POSITION SUMMARY
Cristo Rey San José seeks a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Principal to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year, starting ideally on July 1, 2025. The Assistant Principal will work closely with the Principal to manage all aspects of school life, including curriculum and instruction, student activities, faculty and staff supervision, and academic operations. This leader will help foster a positive, inclusive, and joyful learning environment, with a deep commitment to the school’s Jesuit, Catholic mission and values.
The Assistant Principal is a key member of the school’s leadership team and will serve as a positive, faith-filled leader who supports the Principal in fulfilling the school’s mission. This individual will be empowered to take the lead on major areas of student life, such as athletics, campus ministry, service learning, and student activities, while also assisting with academic operations, teacher supervision, and general school management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Support and promote the Catholic, Jesuit identity and mission of the school in all aspects of the role.
- Serve as acting Principal in the Principal’s absence and work collaboratively with the Principal to oversee the daily operations of the school.
- Foster a positive school culture that values respect, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Support and develop faculty and staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, staff, and families to ensure high academic standards and a vibrant, supportive school community.
Student Activities & Support:
- Oversee major student life programs, which may (or may not) include: student activities, student government, athletics, campus ministry, service learning, clubs, and other extracurricular activities.
- Ensure students have access to holistic development opportunities, supporting their academic, social, and spiritual growth.
- Help manage and monitor student behavior and disciplinary procedures, ensuring a safe and positive school environment.
- Support students through various interventions and work closely with the Dean of Students to address behavioral and academic challenges.
Academic Leadership:
- Assist the Principal and academic leadership team in the planning and implementation of school-wide academic initiatives.
- Supervise and coach faculty members, fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with the Principal and Academic Leadership Team and Instructional Leadership Team to review and improve curriculum planning, assessment, and instructional practices.
- Work closely with teachers to ensure students are being challenged in a rigorous, college-prep setting, while also addressing the diverse learning needs of students.
Operational & Strategic Management:
- Support the Principal in managing the school’s operational processes, including scheduling, budgeting, and school policies.
- Assist in the development and execution of the school’s strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the mission and long-term goals.
- Work with faculty and staff to identify and implement solutions that improve school processes and student outcomes.
- Participate in the school accreditation processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Share planning and coordination duties for major school events (eg, Orientation, Assemblies, Baccalaureate Mass, and Graduation) with other administrators
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree or in progress in educational leadership or a related field preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in a school leadership role, with demonstrated success in fostering school culture, managing faculty, and supporting student development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships and inspire trust among faculty, staff, students, and families.
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of Catholic education, social justice, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Ability to lead with a growth mindset, focusing on continuous improvement and a joyful learning environment for all students.
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including parents, students, faculty, staff and community partners.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Stand, walk, and supervise students for extended periods.
- Lift and move supplies for events or drives (up to 30 pounds).
- Travel locally for service site visits and partner engagement.

SALARY AND COMPENSATION
Range: $140,00 to $165,00 depending on education and years of experience. Full-time employees are eligible for:
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage (100% for employees, 50% for dependents).
- 403(b) retirement plan eligibility.
- 12-month administrator contract
