    Kindergarten-2nd Grade Learning Specialist


    The Brandeis School of San Francisco seeks a joyfully collaborative, kind, and knowledgeable learning specialist for grades K-2 in lower school. The position will begin August 13, 2025. This position will report to the director of the lower school.


    Characteristics


    • Joyful collaborator with ability to work collegially with teaching faculty, helping to observe, assess, and support students in small pull-out groups and by making recommendations for in-class accommodations


    • Empathetic supporter for students and families as they navigate their child’s unique learning needs


    • Knowledgeable in the most up-to-date approaches to differentiation for neurodiverse students


    • Flexible when working with colleagues


    • Experience with Fundations Curriculum and literacy assessments including DIBELS


    • Ability to read, interpret, and synthesize neuropsychological evaluations


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    • Be an active, integrated part of the K-2 grades


    • Support K-2 students through regular assessments (beginning, middle, and end of school year) and small pull-out literacy groups


    • Support K-2 teachers by synthesizing recommendations from neuropsychological evaluations, implementing accommodations, bridging partnerships with parents, collaboratively strategizing support tools, and observing and assessing students who are challenged by the classroom environment or the curriculum.


    • Act as a liaison between the school, families, and outside support teams by making referrals to neuropsychologists and  recommending outside academic supports, tutors, occupational therapists, educational therapists, etc…) 


    • Communicate students’ progress with parents and teachers on a regular basis through meetings and email correspondence.


    • Coordinate schedules and location for on-campus tutors


    • Administer admissions assessments for K-2 student applicants (February-April)


    • Maintain student data and records by documenting plans, progress, and outcomes


    Requirements


    • Master’s degree in education or special education or certificate in educational therapy preferred.


    • California teaching credential, preferred.


    • A minimum of five years experience in the field of education with expertise in special education and early literacy support


    • Familiar with the principles of teaching reading, writing, and math in K-2


    • Experience in collaborating with teams, teachers, and parents.


    The salary range for this position is $70,000 - 110,000 annually based on prior experience, education, and position requirements. Medical, dental, life, and long-term disability and retirement benefits are provided.
