Choir and A Cappella Director

    The Archer School for Girls seeks a dynamic and experienced Choir and A Cappella Director to join our faculty in August 2025. This role demands a talented choral director capable of training young voices, conducting various ensembles, and tailoring complex music for varying skill levels. The director will cultivate a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere, catering to all vocal proficiency levels, and must have prior experience directing a cappella groups. The role extends to teaching vocal music to middle school students.

    Our ideal candidate is a passionate, innovative, and skillful musician and educator eager to contribute to our distinguished music program. We are seeking candidates who thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to fostering musical excellence and innovation among students. 

    Responsibilities include:

    ·       Directing the Middle and Upper School Choirs

    ·       Coaching and leading Middle and Upper School a cappella groups

    ·       Teaching vocal music courses for grades 6-12, as assigned

    ·       Leading the organization and execution of major school concerts and performances, including Winter and Spring concerts

    ·       Organizing and developing performance opportunities for students both within and outside the school 

    ·       Developing instructional materials, activities and assessments that promote student learning and engagement

    ·       Overseeing the music department budget, including concert-related expenditures

    ·       Serving as a mentor/advisor to students

    ·       Participating actively in departmental and school-wide events, including 12th grade Commencement, 8th grade Recognition, Founders Day and more

    ·       Fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment

    ·       A commitment to continuous professional development

    Qualifications include:

    ·       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music or Music Education

    ·       Has a minimum of 2-3 years teaching experience at the middle or secondary level

    ·       Demonstrates extensive knowledge of vocal pedagogy, vocal production, and choral music

    ·       A commitment to artistic excellence

    ·       Ability to perform and teach a diverse repertoire across multiple musical genres

    ·       Proficient in piano playing and accompanying young performers

    ·       Expertise in vertically integrating curriculum for middle and high school vocalists

    ·       Works to effectively differentiate for diverse learners

    ·       Collaborates well with colleagues within planning teams

    ·       Actively engages in self-reflection, seeks constructive feedback, and embraces professional growth

    ·       Enthusiastic about participating in interdisciplinary projects with other teachers and departments

    Salary range: $69,463 - $124,022 annually (depending on qualifications and experience)
