Position Summary
EBI seeks a dynamic and experienced Site Supervisor to serve as the pedagogical and operational leader for its Pre-Kindergarten (PK) and Transitional Kindergarten (TK) programs. This is a unique opportunity for an educator who is passionate about inquiry-based learning and deeply committed to the philosophies of the Reggio Emilia approach and the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
The Site Supervisor is responsible for championing EBI's mission, mentoring a team of dedicated educators, and ensuring a safe, nurturing, and intellectually vibrant environment. This role balances visionary educational leadership with the essential, hands-on management of daily operations, including ensuring full compliance with all state and county licensing regulations. The ideal candidate is a native-level Spanish speaker who models best practices, fosters a strong sense of community, and skillfully guides the program's development.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree.

Permit: A valid California Site Supervisor Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Program Director Permit preferred.

Language: Fluid bilingualism in English and Spanish, with native-level proficiency in Spanish.

Experience: Proven supervisory experience in an early childhood education setting.

Compliance: Must be able to attain fingerprint clearance (FBI and DOJ) and maintain a clear criminal record.

Safety: Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, Food Handling certificate and Pest Control training certified.

Training: Completion of Mandated Reporter Training (renewed every 2 years) and Community Care Licensing Orientation/Record Keeping training.
Preferred:

Education: Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.

Philosophy: Demonstrated experience and deep understanding of the Reggio Emilia philosophy (e.g., emergent curriculum, documentation, the environment as the third teacher) and the IB PYP framework (e.g., inquiry-based learning, transdisciplinary themes, Learner Profile).

Skills: Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills. Ability to build trusting relationships with children, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
The Site Supervisor's responsibilities fall into three key areas:
1. Pedagogical & Program Leadership

Mission Integration: Actively maintain congruence between the school’s mission (bilingual, international, IB) and all program activities.

Curriculum Oversight: Guide, support, and mentor staff in planning, documenting, and implementing an emergent, inquiry-based curriculum that reflects Reggio Emilia and IB PYP principles.

Program Excellence: Model and monitor developmentally appropriate best practices, ensuring a high-quality educational experience for all children.

Member of the Pedagogical Team: Meet weekly with the Pedagogical Team to ensure program alignment throughout all grade levels.

Environment as Teacher: Collaborate with faculty to ensure the campus environment is welcoming, safe, intentionally designed, and rich with materials that provoke curiosity and learning.

Student Support: Observe and monitor child development, working with staff and families to support the individual needs of each child. Meet weekly with the Student Success Team to review individualized student plans, support student and classroom needs in terms of behavior, social emotional learning and academics.
2. Staff & Community Engagement

Visible Leadership: Maintain a visible, approachable presence on campus, actively engaging with students, faculty, and parents to build a strong, collaborative community.

Staff Development: Lead a comprehensive staff development program, including mentoring, training, performance management, and creating professional growth plans. Support faculty in creating their annual goals and reviewing their progress throughout the year.

Observation & Feedback: Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive, specific feedback to support teacher growth.

Family Partnership: Serve as a primary point of contact for PK/TK families, providing ongoing support, fostering positive relationships, and resolving problems as they arise.

Communication: Maintain professional, open, and ongoing communication with staff and families, ensuring transparency and confidentiality.

Hiring: Lead the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring process for program staff as needed.
3. Operations & Compliance

Licensing & Compliance: Assume primary responsibility for day-to-day operations, ensuring 100% compliance with all (Title 22) child care licensing and county regulations.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records, including children’s files, staff files, attendance, training documents, and meeting minutes.

Health & Safety: Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all children and staff. Conduct regular facility inspections, work with the Facilities Department on repairs, and ensure all safety procedures (hand washing, food handling, etc.) are followed.

Emergency Preparedness: Ensure all required safety drills (fire, earthquake, shelter in place, lockdown) are conducted and documented according to protocol.

Administration: Manage program supplies (ordering and inventory), facilitate regular staff meetings, and complete all necessary reports and paperwork accurately and on time.

Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Compensation
EBI uses a salary scale that is based on education and years of experience. The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000.
