Junior Graphic Designer (Temporary, 6-7 months)

    As a member of Windward School’s Communications Office, the Temporary (6-7 months) Junior Graphic Designer will be a key team player with self-driven abilities who thrives in a fast-paced and engaging work environment. This is an exceptional opportunity for a junior designer looking to build their portfolio and gain office experience to grow a wide range of skills in a professional setting.

    Essential Functions: 

    • Works closely with the Communications team to respond to requests from a wide range of clients from within the school community (administrators, faculty, parent committees, department heads, etc.) 
    • Designs promotional and event collateral, including graphics, images, logos, and ads, for both print and web 
    • Articulate Windwards’ brand identity in conjunction with the Director of Communications and Public Relations and the Associate Head of School for Advancement, Finance, and Operations 
    • Supports the Director of Communications and Public Relations in finalizing the 2025-26 Windward yearbook
    • Creates fliers to advertise campus events
    • Designs and updates Board of Trustee PowerPoints and materials 
    • Creates one-sheets to promote school and summer camp programs 
    • Packages and delivers appropriate files to vendors (outside designers, printers, etc.) prior to production 
    • Collaborates with other members of the Advancement team to produce 
    • Manages visual assets for school marquees ensuring they are optimally sized and reflect the relevant content (Summer) 
    • Other duties as assigned

    Salary Range: $30-40/hr without benefits. We offer a daily Lunch Allowance at our Food Pavilion.

    Requirements

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment 
    • Attention to detail 
    • Ability to take art direction to deliver successful design 
    • Proven ability to work as a positive, enthusiastic member of a team 
    • Strong visual thinker 
    • Ability to use discretion with confidential information 

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or bachelor’s degree in a related field with a certificate from a university design program 
    • One to three years of professional graphic design experience 
    • Experience in Education (K-12 or higher education) a plus 
    • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and Google Workspace (Google Docs, Google Slides, etc.)

    Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

    • Constantly (Occurs 2/3 or more of the time): Sitting, Keyboarding, Visual Acuity (Near/Far) 
    • Occasionally (Occurs up to 1/3 of the time): Standing, Walking, Lifting/Carrying up to 25 lbs.
