    Overview:

Le Lycée Français de San Francisco seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking Science teacher to join our Secondary School team for the 2026-2027School Year. You will teach in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP): specifically in Physics and Chemistry. You will help foster a passion for scientific inquiry in students aged approximately 11-18, leveraging concept-driven, experiment-rich, and inclusive learning experiences in a diverse international school setting.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality science instruction in MYP Science and DP Physics & Chemistry, aligned with the IB framework, U.S. standards, and the school’s mission.

    • Design units and lessons that promote conceptual understanding, scientific reasoning, experimentation, data-analysis, problem-solving, modelling and real-world application of scientific concepts.

    • Ensure that hands-on laboratory work is safely planned, supervised, and integrated effectively to support inquiry and build practical skills.

    • Use assessment data (formative and summative) to inform instruction, provide timely and constructive feedback, and support student agency and growth.

    • Apply inclusive instructional practices (such as Universal Design for Learning and differentiated instruction) to meet the needs of a diverse learner population.

    • Embed opportunities for student reflection, metacognition, and self-regulation of learning (ATL/ATL skills) in the science classroom.

    • Work collaboratively with the Science department and cross-disciplinary teams to co-plan, align curriculum vertically/horizontally, and share best practices, including interdisciplinary units (IDUs).

    • Engage with the broader school community — students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators — to foster positive relationships and a culture of belonging and curiosity.

    • Actively contribute to the life of the school: supervising lab safety, extra-curricular science clubs, excursions or fieldwork, open houses, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.

    • Maintain accurate records of student progress, grades, communications, and stay current with IB Science developments, laboratory best practices, and pedagogy.

    Preferred Candidate Profile:

    • Holds a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Physics, Chemistry, Science Education or a related field.

    • Minimum of 3 years of successful secondary school science teaching experience; IB MYP/DP experience strongly preferred.

    • Strong understanding of, or willingness to engage with, the philosophy, structure and assessment practices of the IB programmes (MYP & DP).

    • Experience teaching students aged 11-18 or willingness to develop proficiency across this age range.

    • High level of English proficiency (spoken and written).

    • Demonstrated capacity to plan, deliver, assess and reflect on curriculum and instruction, with a focus on student engagement, agency, growth and scientific literacy.

    • Experience using inclusive instructional strategies (differentiation, scaffolding, UDL) and caring for diverse learners.

    • Excellent organizational, leadership and communication skills; reliable, collaborative, enthusiastic and committed to contributing positively to a school culture.

    • Commitment to the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, global-mindedness and the IB Learner Profile.

    Why Join Us?

    • Join a vibrant, multilingual, multicultural international school community committed to academic excellence, global citizenship and personal growth.

    • Be part of a committed and collegial faculty team, where collaboration and professional growth are priorities.
