Viewpoint School is currently seeking a Campus Safety Officer (EMT Certified). The Campus Safety Officer ensures the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors while protecting school property and assets. The Officer patrols and inspects campus facilities—including parking lots, academic buildings, and grounds—to maintain a secure and safe learning environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conducts routine foot and vehicle patrols to ensure the safety and security of the campus.
- Monitors for hazards or unsafe conditions, including fire risks, water leaks, chemical spills, and mechanical failures.
- Responds to and documents incidents involving medical emergencies, theft, accidents, fires, or significant property damage.
- Immediately reports suspicious activity or unsafe conditions to the Director of Campus Safety.
- Provides initial response and coordination during emergencies or disasters to protect life and property.
- Controls campus access points, ensuring secure entry and exit for students, faculty, and visitors.
- Opens and secures facilities according to the campus operational schedule.
- Directs vehicle and pedestrian traffic to maintain orderly flow during arrival, dismissal, and special events.
- Provides on-site emergency medical care as a certified EMT, including first aid, CPR, and stabilization of injured persons.
- Coordinates patient transfer to medical facilities when necessary and communicates with emergency medical personnel.
- Administers basic and, when qualified, advanced life support procedures in accordance with EMT protocols.
- Maintains awareness of campus topography, emergency equipment locations, and access points for first responders.
- Participates in safety and emergency preparedness training, maintaining current CPR/AED and first-aid certifications.
- Upholds confidentiality of sensitive information and coordinates with law enforcement when appropriate.
- Attends mandatory departmental meetings and scheduled training sessions.
- Assists with campus events and may be required to work evenings, weekends, or be on-call for emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Director of Campus Safety.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:
- Prior experience in law enforcement, security, or emergency response required.
- Current certification as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required.
- CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) certification or equivalent training preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exceptional written communication skills for reports and incident documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Lenel OnGuard, Sony RealShot Manager, and Adobe software preferred.
- Highly organized, reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of handling confidential matters with discretion.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a professional safety team.
- Positive, courteous, and approachable attitude with a firm yet respectful presence.
- Flexibility to rotate between stationary and patrol assignments as directed.
- Demonstrated integrity, judgment, and commitment to the school’s mission of safety and community care.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Ability to walk, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods across a 40-acre campus.
- Must be capable of occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and other physical activity required.
- Regular exposure to indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
- Must maintain physical readiness and situational awareness during all shifts.
Compensation: Anticipated compensation is $28.00 per hour.
