    The Lycée Français de San Francisco is currently seeking qualified applicants for a temporary High School Social Studies teacher, open immediately. We are looking for a motivated and personable candidate with a strong background in history instruction. This position would teach the English-language component of the 11th and 12th-grade History and Geography program, a French-mandated program taught by two instructors - 1/2 in English; 1/2 in French, much like a highly-structured AP course. 

    The Lycée Français de San Francisco is a French Immersion College Preparatory School in the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide a challenging educational environment based on the French national curriculum, enriched by English classes from PS-12th grade. Our curriculum is designed to provide students with a well-structured, well-assimilated body of general knowledge while encouraging the development of analytical and critical thinking skills. Our students earn an American high school diploma while also preparing for success in the French Baccalauréat, which ultimately qualifies them for admission to both American and European Universities. 

    General School Duties and Responsibilities: 

    Abide by all LFSF safety protocols 

    Treat all students, parents, and colleagues with dignity and respect 

    Monitor and evaluate student progress 

    Communicating regularly with students, parents, guardians, and advisors regarding student progress 

    Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students 

    Effectively manage class discipline, using positive rather than negative methods as much as possible 

    Use the LMS (Learning Management System) to post homework, tests, grades, and resource materials Punctual presence in all classes and meetings and in the completion of all duties, including posting homework, correcting returning graded work, posting grades 

    Monitor and assess student progress toward the expectations of the IB MYP/DP exams and requirements

    Familiarity with technology and innovative teaching strategies

    Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners 

    Culturally competent and committed to equity and inclusion

    Mindset: Ideal candidates will believe:

    Qualifications: 

    Possess a teaching credential in History or Human Geography, or hold a Master's degree in History

    Have a minimum of 2 years of successful teaching experience 

    Demonstrate enjoyment in collaborating with a team of instructors to deliver the curriculum effectively

    Ability to work with students from various language backgrounds

    Committed to engaging with a culturally diverse student and colleague population

    Preferred: Experience with the French curriculum or a strong interest in learning about it. 

    Responsibilities: 

    Organize engaging and relevant activities to maximize student focus and learning. 

    Maintain and positively enforce high expectations for student success. 

    Exhibit excellent communication skills for building strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

    Location: Ortega Campus, San Francisco 

    Compensation: The hourly rate is $40 to $50 per hour of teaching, $25 per hour for preparation time, it does not include any benefits.
