Title: Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Coordinator/Upper School Advisor

Position Description:
Marin Country Day School seeks a gifted educator who is passionate about teaching Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to middle school students using a rich and rigorous curriculum. We seek an educator with a demonstrated background and/or interest in cultural competency, curriculum development, technology integration and environmental sustainability. Also, we seek an educator with the belief in teaching with the interests of the whole child in mind. Teaching Responsibilities

Teaches weekly SEL classes to students in grades 4-8

Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to design and implement SEL curriculum

Consults with Upper School Deans, Upper School Division Head, and Upper School Counselor on development of Advisory curriculum

Prepares and delivers parent education workshops

Consults with Division Head as needed

Assists Division Head and class Deans in the development and implementation of Advisory curriculum

Attends Upper School division meetings
-
Attends weekly Grade Level Team meetings

Leads SEL Team meetings
-
Attends Back to School Nights
-
Participates in student admission process
-
Supervises students at recess, carpool, etc.

Chaperones grade level or Division events such as dances, social events and outdoor education trips

Participates in assemblies and other special events

Serves on committees as needed
Advisor Responsibilities
-
Serves as liaison between school and family for advisees

Creates a warm and nurturing “homeroom” environment for daily attendance, announcements, and check-ins for an advisory group of approximately 10 students

Conducts student-led parent conferences twice per year

Designs and implements advisory curriculum once a week

Attends outdoor education and community engagement days
Qualifications:

Classroom teaching experience or experience working with groups of students

Deep knowledge of child development and social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum

Knowledge of and comfort with health education for middle school students
-
Bachelors Degree; Masters Degree in relevant field, such as counseling, education, or psychology preferred

Compensation:
$37,450 total to be paid bi-weekly from 12/8-6/6/26, not including school Holidays, or breaks. This works out to $350 per teaching day.
