    About Francis Parker School:

    Francis Parker School (Parker) is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California, with 1,330 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. Founded in 1912, the school’s mission is “to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective, and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world.” Parker has two campuses: one in Mission Hills (Lower School, Junior Kindergarten - Grade 5), and a second in Linda Vista (Middle and Upper School, Grades 6 - 12).

    Job Description:

    The Director of Summer and Extended Day Programs at Francis Parker School (School) is responsible for the leadership, strategic planning, and day-to-day operations of the School’s auxiliary programs, including summer camps, after-school programs, enrichment classes, and other special care, ensuring that all programs align with the School’s mission, support the developmental needs of students, foster community engagement, and generate revenue. In addition, this position plays a leading role in the design and delivery of critical school operations, such as morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up, and lunchtime supervision, and is an integral member of the School’s campus safety and security team.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

    Program Development and Leadership

     • Design, develop, and implement engaging, mission-aligned summer and extended day programs for students across age groups.

     • Ensure program offerings complement and enhance the School’s academic and social-emotional priorities.

     • Identify opportunities for new programs based on market trends, community interests, and institutional goals.

     • Develop partnerships with vendors, instructors, and organizations to diversify offerings.

     • Hire, supervise, mentor, guide, and evaluate faculty, staff, and third parties involved in the programs

    Operations and Administration

     • Oversee the daily operations of all auxiliary programs, ensuring safe, high-quality experiences for all participants.

    • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise program staff, ensuring alignment with school policies and standards.

     • Develop and manage budgets, track enrollment data, and ensure the profitability of programs.

     • Establish operational procedures and protocols, including safety, emergency, and risk management guidelines.

    Marketing and Communications

    • Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team to promote programs to current and prospective families.

    • Manage program registration systems and maintain clear, timely communication with families and staff.

     • Represent the School and its programs within the broader community to enhance visibility and enrollment.

    Compliance and Risk Management

    • Ensure all programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards.

    • Implement policies and procedures that align with the School’s risk management practices.

    Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

     • Conduct regular program evaluations through surveys, assessments, and feedback from participants, families, and staff.

    • Use data to drive continuous improvement and inform programmatic change.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education, administration, or related field preferred.

     • Minimum of 5 years of program management experience, preferably in an educational or youth-focused setting.

     • Proven leadership in developing, marketing, and growing auxiliary or summer programs.

     • Strong organizational, financial management, and budgeting skills.

     • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to collaborate with a range of stakeholders.

     • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and supervise a diverse team.

     • Knowledge of CampBrain or similar camp management software.

     • Proficient using software applications, including the Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office

     • Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings as necessary.

     • Ability to work independently, as well as cross-departmentally.

    • Ability to speak and understand Spanish is desirable.

    Salary and Benefits:

    Parker is committed to attracting and retaining the highest quality faculty and staff through a substantial compensation plan, including competitive salary, TIAA retirement benefits, and full medical/dental coverage. Individual salary is negotiable depending on years of experience and educational background.

    Salary Range: $115,000 - $135,000 per year, based on experience.
