Saint Francis High School Athletics in Mountain View, California is where teamwork builds leaders on and off the field. We are seeking coaches with excellent leadership and mentorship qualities at various team levels to support our baseball program. We seek individuals with a growth mindset and the desire to build student-athlete confidence, encouraging accountability and sportsmanship both on and off the field. An ideal coach at Saint Francis High School is community-oriented, has composure under pressure, is an empathic mentor, leads with enthusiasm and positivity, and maintains ethical professionalism acting with integrity at all times. We're looking for coaches who share our vision of developing well-rounded individuals by integrating spiritual, intellectual and social growth into our athletic program leveraging our values of teamwork, effort and sportsmanship.
Depending on the level of coaching, the Athletic Coach is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Collegiality - support and follow the direction of the head coach in all matters that pertain to the sport; assist the head coach in promoting the philosophy and goals of the school and the Athletic Department; demonstrate loyalty to the head coach and the program
- Practices - attend practice on a daily basis and assist our student athletes in proper and correct techniques; the head coach of any level is responsible for having a written practice plan on a daily basis
- Attendance - attend meetings of school or Athletic Department when required and attend staff meetings called by the head coach.
- Scouting - assist the head coach in all aspects of advance scouting
- Support head coach - step in to assume responsibilities of other coaches in the sport upon request
- Support of school mission - support the academic, spiritual and social mission of the school by keeping abreast of student academic performances; support the spiritual mission of the school by coordinating team prayer before athletic contests and attend the program mass or prayer service
- Tryouts - administer a tryout period for their sport for at least 5 practices; students must be given a list of items that they will be evaluated on during this tryout period
- Pre-season/summer program - as coordinated by the head varsity coach, help run the pre-season and summer program
- Paperwork - complete all school and league required paperwork accurately and on time
- Supervision - supervise student athletes before, during and after practice and games
- Support staff - coordinate support staff for their level (managers, statisticians, etc..)
- Development - in consultation with the head coach, seek and complete applicable professional development opportunities
- Additional duties - other duties assigned to them by the head coach of the program that may include the handling of equipment, working with student managers, statistics, etc
Background experiences to be successful in coaching at Saint Francis High School:
- Knowledge - understanding of the fundamentals, concepts and strategies of the sport
- Communications - experience coaching with explaining and demonstrating skills
- Certification - completion of all coaches certification classes including the state CIF class as well as current CPR and First Aid
