    Lower School Nurse

    Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is looking for a Lower School nurse, to begin in August of 2025. We are looking for individuals with an RN license in California (a School Nurse Certificate and Public Health Certificate are desirable).  The Nurse works collaboratively to support the learning experience of students by providing students with health care or evaluating their health needs. This position reports to the Lower School Director.

    Responsibilities and duties of the School Nurse include, but are not limited to:

          Provide major and minor first aid to students and referring students to community agencies and clinics as required

          Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in support of the school’s mission and in compliance with federal, state, and local laws

          Consult with and provide advice to the administration, faculty, and staff regarding students’ specific health issues which may impact their learning experience

          Serve as health education resource contact for students, parents, and employees

          Maintain student health/medical files

          File required state reports

          In collaboration with the Lower School Office and the Director of Public Safety, develop the emergency drill schedule

          Provide emergency response team training

          Arrange for Lower School speech screening

          Teach several sessions of Human Development and Health

          Engage in professional and personal development and commit to growth in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion

          Participate and initiate opportunities that demonstrate one's growth, knowledge, and skills

          Engage and support students of varied identities, lifestyles, and beliefs

          Create an environment that fosters open discussion with the freedom to express varied points of view

    In addition, a candidate should possess the following personal qualities:

           Strong collaboration and cross-cultural competency

          Commitment to equity and inclusion

           A sense of humor, warmth of personality, and energy

           Flexibility

    While being vaccinated for COVID-19 is not required, it is strongly recommended.

    COMPENSATION: Brentwood School's diverse and talented faculty ranges widely in experience level, from those new to teaching to veterans who are experts in their respective disciplines with 30+ years of experience. Our salary range, of $85,000 to $120,000, includes all levels of experience. Salaries are determined based on years of experience, education, full- or part-time status, and number of months worked per school year. Salary ranges do not include benefits i.e. paid lunch time, free breakfast and lunch, free parking. The pay range is an estimate and is not guaranteed. If hired, your actual base salary will be determined by your education, experience, and schedule.
