    Varsity Girls Volleyball, Head Coach

    We seek a dynamic and energetic Varsity Girls Volleyball Head Coach. This position is vital for Pilgrim Athletics, as they will lead the development of Girls Volleyball across multiple levels of our school. As the Varsity Head Coach, you will oversee the entire Girls Volleyball program, including strategic planning, player development, and fostering a positive team culture. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is motivated to grow the success of our student-athletes both on and off the court.     Core Duties and Responsibilities

    ● Lead the strategic direction of the program across school levels, serving as the Varsity Head Coach

    ● Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive team environment

    ● Organize and lead engaging, purposeful, and match-like practice sessions focused on youth development

    ● Send weekly schedule updates and key reminders to student-athletes and families

    ● Supervise student-athletes at all practices, games, and events, ensuring safety and positive behavior

    ● Adapt coaching strategies to meet gender-specific engagement needs, to support and retain girls in sports

    ● Demonstrate a high degree of ethics, sportsmanship, and professionalism, serving as a positive role model

    ● Adhere to the school’s mission for athletics as well as league policies and bylaws

    ● Support program growth at Pilgrim and establish partnerships with the broader Girls Volleyball community

    ● Remain current on rules, best practices, and trends in coaching youth volleyball

    ● Proactive and open communication with the Director of Athletics on all issues

    Position Requirements

    ● Prior coaching experience and comprehensive knowledge of Girls Volleyball technique, coaching strategies, and sport-based youth development

    ● Demonstrated success working with diverse student populations and ability to foster inclusion, engagement, and joy in youth sports

    ● Knowledge of CIF rules and regulations governing high school athletics in California

    ● Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills; able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and student-athletes

    ● Basic First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before the start of the season)

    ● Must complete state of CA required background check

    Availability: 5 days per week, approximately 4:00 - 6:00 PM, Aug. 4 until Oct. 24, including extended travel time on game days. Coach is expected to attend a preseason training, the end-of-year banquet, and Athletics meetings

    Compensation: $7,000 stipend with a bonus of $1,250 for making the CIF playoff s and a bonus of $1,000 for winning a state championship. Additional stipend opportunities available for coaching across athletic levels/teams
