Job Summary
This Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and effective math instruction to students in grades 6-8, fostering their understanding of math concepts and developing their problem-solving skills. This involves creating lesson plans, assessing student progress, providing support to students, and collaborating with other teachers and staff to deliver relevant, meaningful and connected learning that aligns with the values, mission and pedagogical standards of the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Delivery:
Creating and implementing engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and meet the needs of the math levels being taught (eg. Foundations of Mathematics, Introduction to Algebra and Algebra).
Instruction and Tutoring:
Teaching math concepts, providing individual, small and large group instruction, and offering extra help to students who need it.
Assessment and Feedback:
Regularly assessing student understanding through various methods, providing constructive feedback, and monitoring student progress. Maintain an up-to-date gradebook.
Classroom Management:
Establishing and maintaining a positive and productive learning environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and active participation.
Collaboration and Communication:
Working with other teachers within the Math Department and across the K-8 Division, administrators, and parents to ensure student success and maintain open communication.
Professional Development:
Participating in professional development activities to stay up-to-date on the latest teaching methods, educational technologies and curriculum updates.
General:
Show a commitment to supporting the holistic development of the student, both inside and outside of the class. Ideal candidates will be excited by becoming part of our vibrant school community, broadly engaging with students and colleagues, and attending events outside their particular field of study.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years teaching experience.
Bachelor’s Required, Master’s Preferred.
Ability to implement learning objective-based lesson plans.
Detail-oriented, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills

Interested candidates should submit resume and cover letter to mvickers@newroads.org The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $110,000, and also includes a comprehensive benefits package with health, dental, and vision insurance, limited life insurance, and a 403(b) plan. This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and organizational needs.
