    Join the Buckley School as

INTERIM Director of Enrollment Management Start date: July 8, 2025 (possibly sooner) through May, 2026

The Buckley School—Los Angeles’ oldest independent, all-gender K–12 school with all grades on one campus—is seeking a visionary and mission-driven director of enrollment management to lead the school’s efforts in recruiting and retaining the next generation of curious, compassionate, and community-minded students.

As a nationally recognized college preparatory school fostering curiosity, innovation, and empathy, Buckley is committed to preparing students to become “Architects of the Future.” We seek a leader who will elevate Buckley’s enrollment strategy with data-informed decision-making, an inclusive spirit, and a warm, welcoming presence.

    What you’ll do

As a key member of the senior leadership team and reporting to the head of school, you will:

    • Lead a dedicated, joyful admission team (three full-time and one part-time) to design a compelling, mission-aligned application experience.
    • Shape the culture of recruitment and retention, ensuring Buckley remains both competitive and values-driven.
    • Model enlightened hospitality that includes communicating in a clear, accurate, and timely manner and providing opportunities for prospective families to connect with the school’s students, faculty, staff, and campus.
    • Collaborate across departments—including marketing, advancement, and division heads—to deliver consistent messaging and exceptional prospective family experiences.
    • Develop and implement a multi-year enrollment strategy to meet our 830-student cap (set by Buckley’s conditional use permit), informed by demographic trends, economic data, and broader educational insights.
    • Champion equity and belonging, ensuring our student body reflects the diversity of greater Los Angeles.

    Strategic opportunities

This is a moment to lead with purpose:

    • Clarify Buckley’s distinct value proposition in a crowded Los Angeles school market.
    • Strengthen retention through proactive cross-divisional collaboration.
    • Deepen partnerships with feeder schools, consultants, and community-based organizations.
    • Advance data systems and enrollment metrics to shape informed, mission-forward decisions.
    • Serve as the public face of a school deeply committed to inclusion, intellectual engagement, and student well-being.

    What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a warm, strategic, and driven leader who:

    • Brings to Buckley five or more years of enrollment management experience, ideally in an independent school or college.
    • Is an exceptional communicator and relationship-builder, able to connect authentically with families, faculty, and staff.
    • Understands and values child development across grades K–12.
    • Uses data and CRM tools effectively (Blackbaud, SchoolAdmin, etc.).
    • Demonstrates optimism, professionalism, humility, and emotional intelligence.
    • Aligns with Buckley’s core values: honesty, respect, kindness, self-reliance, loyalty, and self-discipline.

    Responsibilities include

    • Supervising and mentoring a collaborative admission team.
    • Working in partnership with the business office to oversee all aspects of financial aid and re-enrollment.
    • Designing and leading family outreach events, open houses, and welcome programs.
    • Partnering with the director of marketing and communications to create unified messaging and branding to build Buckley’s presence and appeal.
    • Serving as a Middle or Upper School advisor and participating fully in the life of the school (games, concerts, assemblies, and more).
    • Preparing reports and presenting key data to leadership and trustees.
    • Managing the admission office budget.

    Compensation and application process

Salary range: $145,000–$195,000, depending on experience.

We offer a competitive benefits package including retirement contributions, daily lunch, on-site parking, contributions to medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D plans, and a generous time off policy.
