    Position Summary


    Position Title: Prep ASC Teacher Long Term Sub


    Department: Prep


    Reports To: Director of ASC


    FLSA Classification: Exempt


    FTE (Full-Time Equivalent): 50%


    Schedule of Duties: Temporary (August 18 to December 18)


    Salary: $41,000- $85,000 annually (salary prorated at 50% FTE) depending upon level of education and experience


    Position Purpose: Responsible for helping students with documented learning differences to learn science content.


    Specific Expectations for Prep Faculty & Staff: In addition to regular duties, the following duties and responsibilities are expected as part of the faculty workload: holding office hours, proctoring exams, and attendance of, or participation in, mandatory meetings and/or events (e.g. Director's Day, open houses, Mass), as required and directed by your supervisor. All employees will be paid appropriately and according to current law and SHS policy


    Essential Functions


    • Supports students in the implementation of their learning support plan under the direction of the Assistant Principal of Academic Life and the Director of the ASC.

    • Tutors students one-on-one and in small groups in specific subjects and proctors in the Testing Center, as needed.

    • Mentors students in usage of their accommodations.

    • Attends family meetings, as needed.

    • Supports mentoring of students in implementation of accommodations for in school exams.

    • Maintains accurate student attendance records and other required records.

    • Uses effective class management techniques to ensure effective learning.

    • Other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications


    • BA in the appropriate area of emphasis. Master's degree or post-graduate work in education with emphasis in varied exceptionalities or learning disabilities and experience working with students with mild/moderate learning differences, preferred.

    • Strong knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Math expertise is also preferred, but not required.

    • Strong ability to build rapport (while being kind, firm, structured, and positive) with students. Ability to focus on student well-being and overall health before academic needs.

    • Strong understanding or willingness to learn the community/cultural norms and the intensity students feel on a daily basis.

    • Willing and able to interact professionally and collaboratively with the ASC team, parents, students, and faculty.

    • Strong organizational skills and ability to mentor and coach executive functioning skills.

    • Strong teaching ability, with evident commitment to equity and inclusion.


    • Proficient in using computers, including intermediate knowledge of Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) and Microsoft Office applications.

    • Excellent verbal and written skills in English, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills. Additional skills in Spanish are valued and preferred.

    • A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of the school as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools and professional behavior based on it.


    Physical Requirements and Work Environment


    • Works in an often highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.

    • Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.

    • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.

    • Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled classroom environment and intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold typical to the Mid-Peninsula in the Bay Area.

    • Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. and regularly travel safely and comfortably over a 63 acre campus

    • Available and willing to attend and work some evenings/weekends and on occasional overnight trips.

    • Abide by school's current safety policies (ex: wearing masks, washing hands, etc.)
