    Classification: Non-exempt, Part Time (18 hrs week)

    Status:    Regular Full Year Staff

    Position Description: 

    The HR and Payroll Assistant coordinates and processes bi-weekly payroll, oversees on and offboarding, assists employees with questions related to pay, time off, benefits and various HR related issues, assists the HR Director and Business Office with other HR related projects and duties.

    Principle Responsibilities:

    Payroll:

    • Payroll Processing: Enters payroll data, calculates wages and deductions, and ensures accurate payment of salaries. 

    • Data Maintenance: Keeps employee records up-to-date, including salary changes, benefits, tax withholding, and personal information. 

    • Compliance: Ensures payroll practices adhere to federal, state, and local regulations. Resolves all payroll discrepancies and errors.

    • Time and Labor: Assists non-exempt employees with time card entries, questions and issues; create, implement and utilize pay adjustments, train employees on various pay entries including time off requests. Supports Supervisors with questions and troubleshooting time card issues.

    • Record Keeping: Maintains accurate and organized payroll records. 

    • Communication: Responds to employee questions about payroll. 

    HR:

    • Training: Schedules, coordinates and track required training for new hires and re-training for current employees, file applicable training documents in employee files.

    • Onboarding: Onboards all new-hires; tracks process, coordinates paperwork, obtains signatures and completes on board packet, uploads and creates employee profile in Paylocity, Ease and Google Drive

    • Benefits: Audits monthly carrier bills against enrollment status in EASE and Paylocity; notes differences, works in conjunction with HR Director to assess any discrepancies and rectifies with employee, broker and/or Controller.

    • Open Enrollment: Partners with the HR Director to track and enter annual open enrollment changes.

    • Admin: Assists employees with HR and benefits administrative questions, forms, problem resolution. Adds all employee changes to Paylocity, EASE and personnel files. Processes EDD, SDI, WC mail requests.

    • HRIS: Creates procedures, slide decks, notifications for employees for changes, updates new processes in relation to Paylocity

    General:

    • As a member of the school community, attends and participates in school meetings during the year.

    • Participates with other school personnel in collaborative efforts; additional projects or responsibilities as assigned. 

    • Understands and promotes the school’s mission of curiosity, empathy, and action, and participates in creating a welcoming culture for all members of the MCDS community.

    Qualifications:

    • BA degree in business or similar;  or equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Must have prior hands on experience processing payroll and general HR knowledge; Paylocity experience a plus 

    • Excellent excel, word, google suite experience and the ability to create various documents, share and merge between systems and track detailed information

    • Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a busy environment

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written

    • Detail-oriented, flexible, with the initiative and ability to work independently.

    This position is part-time approximately 18 hours per week. Position requires on-site presence in Corte Madera between the hours of 8AM-4PM. Days can be flexible, but payroll is processed early in the week Mon/Wed/Fri or Mon/Tue/Thur preferred.

    Pay $31-32/hr

    Comes with Free lunch every day during the academic school year (August 15-June 6)
