    Job summary

    Sugar Bowl Academy is a fully accredited private independent school with both day and boarding programs. The school is uniquely situated at 7,000 feet on Donner Summit at Sugar Bowl Resort. Student-athletes are offered world-class athletics and college preparatory academics in one place. At Sugar Bowl Academy we inspire and educate winter athletes as they pursue athletic dreams, academic excellence, and personal growth. We celebrate grit, grace, and courage, and are seeking a new team member who does the same.

    Our new team member will teach 4 upper-level STEM courses with each class having 7-10 students. Essential job functions will include:

    • Deep content knowledge in upper-level STEM subjects, 
    • Differentiated teaching and learning based on student needs,
    • The ability to adapt learning plans to accommodate and support learning on the road,
    • Use of formative and summative assessments to evaluate student learning and adapt teaching,
    • Use of standards-aligned curriculum and research-based instructional strategies that emphasize critical thinking, student engagement, and conceptual understanding,
    • Technological proficiency,
    • Positive attitude with flexibility and creative problem-solving, and
    • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues, students, and families.

    Job requirements

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, or a related field.
    • Valid Single Subject Math or Physics Teaching Credential preferred.
    • A Master’s degree and 3 or more years of teaching experience preferred. 
    • Valid California Driver’s License and a reliable personal vehicle.
    • SafeSport training and LiveScan background check.

    Credential requirements:

    • Single Subject Math or Physics credentials preferred.

    Physical requirements

    • Must be able to live and work in a high altitude, mountain environment with frequent, heavy storms disrupting day-to-day operations.
    • Must be able to drive personal vehicle in mountain environment, including in winter conditions.
    • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. 
    • Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
