    The Archer School for Girls is seeking a dynamic Orchestra Director to join our esteemed faculty starting August 2024. This pivotal role involves leading our school's orchestral program, training young instrumentalists, and conducting ensembles across varying skill levels. The Orchestra Director will be expected to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that embraces all levels of musical proficiency and will be responsible for nurturing the musical talents of our students through tailored instruction and diverse repertoire.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    ·         Teaching instrumental music courses

    ·         Auditioning and conducting the Middle School and Upper School Orchestras

    ·         Leading audition based advanced ensembles in middle and upper school

    ·         Leading the organization and execution of major school concerts and performances, including Winter and Spring concerts

    ·         Fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment in all musical settings

    ·         Serving as a mentor/advisor to students

    ·         Developing and implementing instructional materials, activities, and assessments that enhance student learning and engagement in music

    ·         Organizing and facilitating performance opportunities, including solo recitals, for students both within and outside the school community

    ·         Managing the annual budget for the music department, overseeing expenditures related to orchestral activities and performances

    ·         Actively participating in departmental meetings, school-wide events, and special occasions such as Founders Day, 8th grade Recognition and Admissions events

    ·         Commitment to ongoing professional development to remain current in the field of music education

    Qualifications include:

    ·         Holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music or Music Education

    ·         Has a minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience at the middle or secondary level

    ·         Demonstrates extensive knowledge of instrumental pedagogy, music theory, and orchestral conducting

    ·         Skilled in performing and teaching a wide range of musical styles

    ·         Proficient in reading scores and leading rehearsals with various orchestral sections

    ·         Experienced in curriculum development that caters to both middle and high school students

    ·         Effective at differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

    ·         Collaborates effectively with faculty within interdisciplinary teams

    ·         Engages in continuous self-reflection, seeks constructive feedback, and is committed to professional growth

    ·         Enthusiastic about participating in interdisciplinary projects and integrating music with other academic subjects

    Salary range: $69,463 - $124,022 annually (depending on qualifications and experience)
