    Bentley School is a K-12 co-educational, independent day school located on two campuses in Oakland (K-8) and Lafayette (9-12), California.     Responsibilities

    Responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to:

          Supporting the grade-level lead teacher(s) in all aspects of the school day

          Create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment where students thrive academically

          Collaborating regularly with the other grade-level teachers and specialists

          Participating in all aspects of Bentley’s character education curriculum

          Designing innovative curricula in which both academic and social-emotional growth are considered

          Instruct individual students, small groups, or whole class to carry out curriculum

          Prepare and organize instructional materials

          Act as classroom teacher in Lead Teachers’ absence

          Attending regular faculty and grade-level meetings

          Assisting with supervision of students during lunch, recess, traffic duty, special events, off-campus field trips, etc.

          Attending various school functions, including Admissions events, Back to School Night, Conferences, etc.

          Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

          A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with an interest in a teaching career.

          Enrollment in teaching credential or master’s degree program in Elementary Education, preferred.

          Experience in an interdisciplinary environment with an emphasis on group collaboration and use of technology.

          Experience in teaching problem-solving skills in addition to traditional core content

          Excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills.

          Ability and willingness to work with students in large and small group settings using multiple teaching methods to reach a broad range of students.

          Desire to continually examine one’s practice with the goal to improve student learning

    Physical Requirements:

    Consistent mental alertness; standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time; lift, carry, push, and pull moderate weight objects; bending and twisting at waist and neck; kneeling and bending at the waist, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; dexterity of fingers and both arms and hands while performing duties, seeing to read, write, and use a computer; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.

     

    Pay Range: 

    Bentley uses a competitive salary scale, which takes into account experience, education, and skill level. The salary for this position ranges from $53,000 - $55,000 per year (paid semi-monthly, 12 months, non-exempt)
