    Learning and Resource Specialist - Mild to Moderate Support Needs (MMSN)

    Our school is seeking a highly qualified and credentialed Learning and Resource Specialist to address the diverse learning needs of our students, focusing on Mild to Moderate Support Needs (MMSN). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting inclusive education, fostering improvement, and ensuring a balanced and enriching educational experience for all students.

    The Lycée Français de San Francisco is a French Immersion College Preparatory School in the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide a challenging educational environment based on the French national curriculum and English classes based on the California Common Core from PS-12th grade. Our curriculum is designed to provide students with a well-structured, well-assimilated body of general knowledge while encouraging the development of analytical and critical thinking skills. Our students earn an American high school diploma, as well as prepare for the French Baccalauréat, which qualifies them for both American and European Universities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Attend weekly student support meetings with the Learning and Wellness team.

    • Attend weekly staff meetings with the faculty and staff.

    • Attend parent-teacher conferences as necessary and maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to provide resources, support, and establish a timeline for interventions while monitoring student progress.

    • Credential Requirements:

      • Hold a valid California Special Education credential.

    • Operational Procedures:

      • Conduct occasional screenings to assess baseline proficiencies in specific subjects or skill areas.

      • Develop and implement support tools for students with diverse learning needs.

      • Work collaboratively with the learning and wellness support team and referrals to outside specialists.

    • Campuses and Grades:Inclusive Education Advocacy:

      • Differentiate and/or modify class curriculum for individual students, including coordinating with the classroom teaching team to reinforce and integrate strategies into the classroom throughout all academic subjects. 

      • Address the current imbalance in support for students with special needs, particularly in the areas of reading, math and language skills.

      • Support a comprehensive approach to bilingual education, aimed at bridging the divide between French and English support, as well as between elementary and secondary grade levels.

      • Provide support for a growing English-speaking audience, with a focus on mid-level English Language LearnersL students dealing with sight words, basic vocabulary, and other conditions characterized by difficulties in reading, writing, and spelling..

    • Collaboration and Communication:

      • Maintain constant communication with classroom teachers, and other stakeholders to quickly address concerns and exchange information.

      • Monitor and manage Identified Educational Plans

      • Ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented for students with Identified Educational Plans and that the teachers are equipped with resources and tools to support these students in class.

      • Coordinate with personal learning specialists/tutors to tailor and adapt strategies to individual student needs.

      • Serve Sausalito, Ashbury, and Ortega campuses

      • Primarily focus on providing resources for K-5 students,with a special focus on pre-reading skills, while also reviewing accommodations and resources for students in grades 6-12.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in addressing the diverse needs of students with learning disabilities.

    • Minimum of two years teaching experience at the elementary school levels

    • Experience working with children with language based learning differences such as dyslexia

    • Knowledge of multi-sensory teaching techniques in literacy and math

    • Knowledge of various assessment measures (standardized and non-standardized) and ability to interpret data to evaluate student progress and drive instruction

    • Certified in a Dyslexia Reading Program, such as Wilson or Linda Mood Bell

    Start Date: Back to School New Staff Orientation: August 19, 2024

    Status: Full-Time, Non Exempt, 31 hours per week

    Reports to: Primary Principal and Secondary Principal

    Location: All three Campuses: San Francisco (Ashbury / Ortega) & Sausalito

    Candidates with 3 to 5 years related experience in the education field can anticipate a yearly salary, ranging from: $ 76,710 to $ 79,858 for 31 hours per week (based on Salary Grid 2024/2025). The salary offered to the successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience in the job, type and years of experience in the industry, education, etc. LFSF offers a negotiated salary range.
