Associate Campus Minister, Christian Formation

    The Associate Campus Minister, Christian Formation, is a full-time position divided between part-time campus ministry (3/5) and part-time teaching (2/5). The Associate Campus Minister oversees the development and implementation of Sacramental & Youth Ministry Programs. This position coordinates with the Chaplain and the Director of Holy Cross Mission & Ministry. This role works during the faculty year, August through May, and has some evening and weekend responsibilities. The position is paid on a range from $84,455 to $120,617 based on education and experience.

    Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Develops and implements a school-wide Liturgical program for students and educators:
      • Coordinates all school-wide and class liturgies
      • Recruits celebrants for Eucharistic liturgies
      • Provides the opportunity for the celebration of Eucharist and prayer services occasionally during collaboration and/or lunch periods
      • Coordinates Educator and Student groups planning Masses and other liturgical or para-liturgical celebrations
      • Coordinates the development of a liturgical music group in the school with the Director of Liturgical Music
      • Encourages the creation and use of art in liturgical services
      • Coordinates the creation of creative and engaging classroom lesson plans for the Religious Studies department in relation to various Catholic events, celebrations, documents and feast days
    • Develops and implements a school-wide Reconciliation program for students:
      • Coordinates and implements a school-wide Sacrament of Reconciliation for students (and educators) twice yearly
      • Recruits priests for Sacrament of Reconciliation
      • Coordinates with Religious Studies Department in recruiting students and providing education on the Sacrament
    • Develops and implements a Confirmation program for students
      • Coordinates Confirmation date and place with the Office of the Bishop and the school calendar
      • Coordinates with Religious Studies Department in educating and recruiting students for Confirmation
      • Holds confirmation orientation meetings for students, families and sponsors
      • Develops and implements Confirmation Program which includes: meetings, retreat, interviews, and teaching Spirituality course
      • Expands the Confirmation program to provide a space for students seeking Full Initiation in the Catholic faith through RCIA (Catechumenate)
    • Develops and implements a comprehensive Youth Ministry program for students in a ‘youth group’ called “Ignite”
      • Recruits, trains and develops students to serve on the Ignite Core Team
      • Coordinates the implementation of Ignite sessions
      • Coordinates the annual Encounter retreat alongside Ignite Core Team students and Educators, in collaboration with the Associate Campus Minister of Retreats
    • Coordinates the Inter-faith Multicultural prayer service and prayer experiences/blessings for the Athletic department
    • Serves as the school liaison with the Diocese of San Jose Office of Evangelization/Youth Ministry
    • Offers appropriate Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Direction at spontaneous and crisis-based opportunities
    • Assists in other Campus Ministry programs as needed, including Student Retreats, Christian Service and Outreach, Immersions and educator days of recollection
