    Secondary Spanish Teacher

    We are seeking a thoughtful, experienced, and skilled educator who is compelled by our Purpose, believes deeply in our Principles of Learning, and who is committed to excellence in Spanish language education. At Pilgrim, we facilitate students’ development of skills, knowledge, and understanding of the Spanish language and culture.

    We currently have positions open in teaching Secondary School Spanish classes. The position offers an excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative team of educators with a focus on innovation in teaching and learning. Candidates should have a strong language and teaching background, and be committed to working with middle and high school aged students.

    Responsibilities

         Teach 5 classes in the Secondary School in Spanish, including planning engaging units and lessons, collecting evidence of student learning, and providing ongoing feedback to improve student learning.

         Work closely and collaboratively with the World Language department in curriculum development, analyzing student work, and implementation of mastery-based learning.

         Prepare timely and detailed parent communication, both informally through email and phone communication, and formally through reports and conferences.

         Provide on-campus supervision 1-2 times per week.

    Required Qualifications

         Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related field.

         At least 3 years of Middle School and/or High School teacher experience

         Highly collaborative spirit and willingness to be part of a team-oriented approach to learning across the school.

         Knowledge and expertise with modern language pedagogy and effective teaching practices for the language acquisition.

    Preferred Background

         Single subject teaching credential in Spanish is strongly preferred.

         Advanced degree in Spanish language and/or Spanish education is strongly preferred.

         Experience in mastery-based or standards-based grading and assessment methodologies is highly desired. We are a fully mastery-based school, so if the candidate does not have experience, they must be willing to learn.
