    ASSISTANT PRESCHOOL TEACHER POSITION

    The Lycée Français de San Francisco is currently seeking qualified applicants for Assistant Preschool Teacher position, for its PrimaryCampuses located in San Francisco and Sausalito, for the 2024-2025 school year.

    Located in San Francisco, LFSF is an independent, co-educational, college preparatory day school of 800+ students in grades preK-12, providing a curriculum for the French Baccalaureate and IB diplomas. For more information about our school, please visit:www.lelycee.org.

    The Assistant Preschool Teacher plays a crucial role in fostering a positive and nurturing environment for students, contributing not only to their academic growth but also to their social and emotional development. He/She assists and helps the teacher with activities during class time, the safety and well-being of the children during recess, lunches and daycare times. He/she oversees students and maintains safety on the playground, school grounds, lunchroom, multipurpose room and other designated areas.  

    General Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Actively engage with students during playtimes and lunchtime, fostering positive interactions and promoting a sense of community.

    • Encourage and model respectful communication, helping students develop effective social skills and conflict resolution strategies.

    • Prioritize the safety and well-being of students during all activities, implementing proactive measures to prevent accidents.

    • Demonstrate a keen awareness of the students' emotional needs, ensuring a secure and supportive environment that nurtures their social and emotional growth.

    • Anticipate potential hazards and take proactive steps to prevent accidents, maintaining a vigilant approach to student safety.

    • Report any injuries promptly and collaborate with the designated supervisor to implement necessary protocols for student well-being.

    • Ensure all students are accounted for and safely supervised, especially during transition times.

    • Collaborate with teachers to guarantee a seamless handover of students after recess and lunch, ensuring no child is left unattended or alone.

    • Assist teachers in creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment, actively participating in classroom activities to enhance the overall educational experience for students.

    Successful candidates will:

    • Experience in private schools or education required,

    • Must possess at least 6 Early Childhood Education Units and be enrolled in the last 6,

    • Energetic and enthusiastic,

    • Demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence to understand and respond effectively to the diverse needs of students.

    • Cultivate a compassionate and empathetic approach to support students in navigating their emotions.

    • Communicate openly and respectfully with both children and parents, fostering a positive and collaborative relationship between home and school.

    • Utilize strong communication skills to contribute to a cohesive and supportive educational team.

    • Embrace and celebrate diversity within the school community, recognizing and respecting cultural differences.

    • Create an inclusive environment that promotes understanding and appreciation of various backgrounds and perspectives.

    • Exhibit a commitment to professional development, staying informed about current educational practices and incorporating new strategies to enhance the social-emotional learning experience for students.

    • Knowledge of French is a plus.

    Candidates with 1 to 3 years related experience in the education field can anticipate an annual salary, ranging from: $ 61,720 to $ 63,483 for a Full-Time position (Salary Scale 2024/2025) . The salary offered to the successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience in the job, type and years of experience in the industry, education, etc. LFSF offers a negotiated salary range.
