The summer Precalculus teacher is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the Summer High School Principal and the Auxiliary Programs Director. The position is for both terms and pays $8,700 over the course of the program. Term 1: Tuesday June 11 - Friday, June 28 (June 19 Holiday)
Term 2: Monday, July 1 - Thursday, July 18 (July 4 Holiday)  

Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Conducting class from 8:15 am to 12:30 pm 
• Actively support the Catholic, Holy Cross mission of the school in the classroom and throughout school programs.

Responsibilities for High School Classes:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and are in accordance with school standards
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
• Provide a variety of instructional strategies and resources to address student learners
• Observe and evaluate student performance and development
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
• Assign and monitor grading of class work, homework, tests, and assignments
• High School teachers are responsible for grading final exams
• Provide appropriate feedback on student work in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development
• Collaborate with colleagues in developing common curriculum and assessments
• Willing to work outside the normal schedule periodically in collaboration with colleagues
• Participate in department, school, and parent meetings

Responsibilities in all Classes & Camps:

• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
• Prepare required reports on students and activities.
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, administrators, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
• Communicate with colleagues, students, and parents in a manner commensurate with the relationship
• Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in a related field, and/or ample experience with the academic or extra-curricular subject
• Experience teaching and with knowledge in the latest methodology and pedagogy for teaching at the educational level for which you're applying
• Familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom, such as a smart board, iPads, projector, etc.
• Ability to use Windows/iOS, Google Docs, and Schoology (or similar LMS)
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Experience working with a diverse group of people and students
• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching Credential in the field of instruction
• Master's Degree in a related field of instruction
• Experience working in Catholic schools and Summer Schools
