    Nestled between the picturesque Santa Monica Mountains and the serene Pacific Ocean, Village School is a flourishing and vibrant educational community. Founded in 1977 and located in Pacific Palisades, Village has truly become a neighborhood school and an active participant in the community. Currently, we nurture the growth and development of approximately 290 bright and eager students in grades TK-6, forging lifelong learners who embody our core values of caring, courage, integrity, fairness, respect, responsibility, and trust.

    The Opportunity

    Village School is seeking a science teacher that will inspire our students to find their love of science while developing a comprehensive understanding of science topics. This science teaching position will partner with the current science teacher to deliver science lessons to students in TK-6th grades. The ideal teacher will deliver an innovative and inquiry-based program that includes STEAM integration and hands-on learning experiences. Village Science is guided by the Next Generation Science Standards, United Nation Sustainable Development Goals, and student passions. The preferred candidate will possess a minimum of three years’ experience as a lead science educator, hold a teaching credential, and demonstrate a strong commitment to collaborative work with fellow colleagues. 

    Duties

    • Provide instruction for multiple grade levels TK-6

    • Support your co-teacher during their lessons.

    • Develop, plan, maintain, and improve a hands-on learning curriculum for each instructed grade level.

    • Communicate with students, parents, teachers and administrators about student progress.

    • Differentiate instruction for students of various needs, abilities, and passions.

    • Participate actively in faculty meetings, division meetings, department meetings, and admissions/school events.

    • Supervise and assist in other areas of the school such as recess, lunch, morning drop-off, carpool, etc.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Support the Mission of Village School and embody the Village Values.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree and a teaching credential are required for lead teachers; preference will be given to candidates who have also earned a master’s degree.

    • Possess robust active listening skills, attentively engaging with students to foster a supportive environment, understanding their perspectives, and skillfully addressing both their academic and social-emotional needs within the educational context.

    • Strong competency in spoken and written communication, exceptional reading comprehension, and effective interpersonal abilities.

    • Capacity to effectively resolve intricate challenges.

    • Proficient in G Suite (e.g., Classroom, Slides, Docs, Sheets, Drive).

    • Ability to articulate a strong commitment to diversity and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds. 

    Expected Pay Range:  

    $68,000 - $85,000 per year
