    Founded in 1889, Marlborough School is an independent girls college-preparatory school for grades 7 through 12 located in Los Angeles, California.     OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT:

    We offer a position teaching courses that involve life and Earth sciences at both the middle and upper school levels. Responsibilities include a full teaching load of four courses as well as leading an advisory group. Each course involves a team of teachers that work together to ensure that students in all sections have a consistent experience. Our 7th grade course, ESI, focuses on basic science skills in the context of life sciences and Earth science. Our 9th grade courses are Biology and Honors Biology. The position might also involve teaching AP Environmental Science.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

           Teach four science classes

           Collaborate with fellow science teachers in teaching teams, contributing to lesson preparation as needed

           Plan, prepare and deliver engaging science lessons for the appropriate developmental level

           Adhere to Marlborough’s academic policies, guidelines, and expectations

           Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, student services, deans, and other administrators

           Monitor and report on student progress, utilizing Marlborough’s learning management system to take attendance, provide curriculum materials and maintain a digital gradebook

           Serve as a grade-level advisor to a group of approximately 12 students

           Participate actively in grade-level and school activities

    QUALIFICATIONS AND  REQUIREMENTS:

           Bachelor’s Degree in a life science or equivalent

           Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience

           An ability to fully commit to teaching at the middle school level

          Possess a high degree of interest in supporting the developmental needs of teenagers with the ability to combine high expectations with a high level of support

           Candidates with interest or experience in teaching AP Environmental Science are especially encouraged to apply
