    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Pinewood School is seeking a full-time Upper Campus (grades 7-12) Math Teacher for the 2024-25 school year starting in mid-August 2024.  We are looking for an educator who is passionate about teaching mathematics and will be a strong contributor in the department. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Teaches math classes that range from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus BC
    • Plans and implements the curriculum for the classroom (average class size is 15 students or less); sets and grades assessments
    • Works collaboratively with colleagues to foster and support student learning
    • Communicates effectively with parents regarding students’ needs and/or progress
    • Performs some advisory, supervisory and chaperoning duties
    • Attends faculty/department meetings and participates in school events

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Ability to spend long hours sitting, using computers and office equipment
    • Regularly sits, walks, talks and hear
    • Be able to lift up to 10 lbs.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field is required; Master’s degree in Mathematics or related field and/or a teaching credential is desired
    • Minimum of two years of classroom experience in teaching junior high or high school mathematics; five or more years of experience teaching at an independent school is desired
    • Experience in teaching Mathematics 7 and 8 is desired 
    • Must be comfortable using or learning to use iPads in the classroom
    • Demonstrated knowledge of innovative teaching techniques, including but not limited to traditional, explorative, project or technology-based instruction 
    • Familiarity with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging concepts in order to support all students on campus.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

    Salary range is $79,000-$138,000 annually. Pinewood offers comprehensive benefits to employees.
