    Windward School is looking for an experienced coach to work with Middle School and Upper School Robotics students as co-curricular support for the Robotics program.

    The responsibilities for this position will include attending Robotics after school practices as well as robotics tournaments and after school scrimmages. The Robotics Coach will be responsible for partnering on the curricular planning and direction of the program and will report to the Program Lead and STEAM Director for supervision purposes. 

    Hours for this position will comprise 6 to 8 hours during the week for practice supervision and curriculum development, Monday through Friday, and 6 hours every Saturday (major holidays and school breaks excluded).

    Windward Robotics Teams participate in both Vex and FRC Robotics. Teams include students in grades 7-12.

    Summary of Major Responsibilities

    ●     Support Middle School and Upper School Robotics practices during the after school and Saturday times

    ●     At the direction of the Robotics Program Lead, support a robust schedule of opportunities for students to participate in both Middle School and Upper School robotics competitions and tournaments

    ●     Attend all off-campus and weekend tournaments for robotics, assisting as chaperone and coach for students

    ●     Provide targeted support in content and skills in preparation for robotics competitions

    ●     Be accessible and responsive to students in person and by email

    ●     Assist with organizing transportation, participation and forms for robotics team tournaments and scrimmages in coordination with the Operations team. Waivers for any travel to in-person tournaments should be created and overseen by Operations.

    ●     Drive students to and from tournaments using school-certified vehicle

    ●     In partnership with the STEAM Director, develop and implement opportunities for growth for students at all levels of interest and experience in robotics

    ●     Participate in school events as requested, including but not limited to Back to School Night, Parent Conference Days, and Prospective Student Open Houses

    Essential Qualifications/Experience

    ●     A minimum of two years of experience competing in or coaching robotics; three or more years preferred

    ●     A demonstrable passion for coding, engineering, and working with young people

    ●     Excellent communication skills

    ●     Excellent fabrication technology skills and experience integrating technology into the curriculum

    ●     A proven commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people

    ●     A commitment to creating a welcoming community that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging

    Salary Range: $25 - 40/hour, depending on experience.
