    Belldegrun Center for Innovative Leadership (BCIL) Applied Science Research Lab Coordinator (K-12)

    Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is looking for a BCIL Applied Science Research Lab Coordinator. We are seeking individuals from the STEAM field with prior experience in and a passion for teaching. 

    Summary of Position: The BCIL Applied Science Research Lab Coordinator oversees the BCIL Applied Science Research Lab and provides opportunities for students to experience independent and hands-on science research related to real-world challenges. The Coordinator also teaches one Upper School science class.

    It is expected that a successful candidate will:

         Work individually with Middle School and Upper School students on their projects and independent research to present and publish to broader audiences

         Teach a year-long Upper School science course

         Coordinate science and invention competitions such as the CA Science Fair, CA Invention Convention, etc.

         Collaborate with Curriculum Innovators and Collaborators (and faculty) to develop curricular connections, including workshops and class visits to the BCIL Applied Science Research Lab, particularly with an emphasis on expanding opportunities for original research

         Coordinate and collaborate on BCIL science-specific Impact Challenges and Speaker Series

         Oversee the BCIL Applied Science Research Lab, including training and supervising students as they utilize the Lab's resources, develop and monitor safety protocols, and maintain scheduling, inventory, budgeting, room setup, and equipment maintenance and updating

         Facilitate connections between BCIL and the broader science community that bring outside expertise into Brentwood, including mentorship opportunities for students, guest speakers, and alumni connections

         Participate as a member of the BCIL Collaborative

         Perform additional duties as assigned by the BCIL Director and participate in the life of the school including supervision, faculty meetings, department meetings, assemblies, and advisory

         Engage in professional and personal development and commit to growth in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion

         Participate and initiate opportunities that demonstrate one's growth, knowledge, and skills

    In addition, a candidate should possess the following personal qualities:

         Strong collaboration and cross-cultural competency

         An interest in and openness to professional growth and development

         Commitment to equity and inclusion

         A sense of humor, warmth of personality, and energy

         Flexibility

    While being vaccinated for COVID-19 is not required, it is strongly recommended.

    For this position, the broad salary range which includes all experience levels is $72,000 - $110,000 and will be prorated according to the period of time the candidate is employed in this role. Salaries are determined based on education, experience, full/part-time status, and number of months of work per school year.
