    Position Summary

    The part-time (.25 FTE) Library Assistant supports the Librarian in our K-8 library, which houses over 14,000 volumes in a beautiful space.  The Library Assistant supports the circulation desk and will assist with online databases, student research projects, and parent/guardian volunteer education as needed.

    Desired Qualifications:

    The Library Assistant is committed to the mission and vision of Redwood Day and possesses the following characteristics:

    • ·         Coursework in Library Science (preferred)
    • ·         Experience working in a library

    Essential Job Functions:

    • ·         Check in/out library materials
    • ·         Shelve incoming books and materials
    • ·         Send overdue notices
    • ·         Assist with collection management
    • ·         Monitor subscription renewals for magazines and newspapers
    • Assist librarians with classes, especially at checkout time
    • Help librarians and teachers by pulling books for specific topics or class units
    • Assist librarians with creating and maintaining book/subject lists
    • Assist with displays and maintaining a welcoming library space
    • Monitor library supplies and order as needed
    • Help provide parent/guardian volunteer education
    • Additional duties as assigned

    This is a 10-month, non-benefits eligible, part-time (.25 FTE), non-exempt position.

    Pay Scale:

    The anticipated pay range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the part-time (.25 FTE) position of Library Assistant is $24 to $28 per hour, depending on factors such as experience and education.
