    The Campus Store Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kiosk’s operations, including the listing and collecting of student fees, managing kiosk inventory, managing and training volunteers, coordinating volunteer schedules, and ensuring an efficient and customer-focused retail experience.  This position requires strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.  

    This is a part-time (80% FTE) position and reports to the Director of Finance. Some evening and weekend work may be required to accommodate the needs of the campus community.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the kiosk, ensuring it is well-maintained, clean, and stocked with merchandise.

    • Maintain accurate records of inventory, sales, and financial transactions.

    • List and collect student fees and payments for various campus activities such as student trips, sports banquets, dances, and exam fees.

    • Partner with colleagues, team parents, coaches, and the financial aid office to list and collect student fees in a timely manner.

    • Provide reporting as needed for student fee collection.

    • Train and supervise parent volunteers to assist with store operations.

    • Develop and maintain a volunteer schedule that ensures coverage for kiosk operating hours and events. When volunteers are not available the Manager must provide kiosk coverage.

    • Provide guidance and support to volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

    • Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff, and campus visitors.

    • Address customer concerns, complaints, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

    • Support campus events such as homecoming, student welcome events, and select athletic games.

    • Coordinate and conduct year end physical inventory, including preparation of reports for annual financial audit.

    • Work with accounting staff to ensure proper recording of kiosk sales.

    • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers.

    • Research and select products for sale.

    • Order spirit wear and merchandise.

    • Receive merchandise, verify orders, and enter inventory data into the POS system, tag merchandise for sale.

    • Maintain back stock of merchandise as needed.

    • Review invoices and prepare purchase orders for payment.

    • Administer POS system.

    • Prepare, analyze, and generate reports related to ordering, sales, and income.

    • Evaluate merchandise for sale, determining when items need to be replaced.

    • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard merchandise.

    • Establish retail prices for merchandise; negotiate with vendors to assure the lowest cost prices and timely delivery of purchased products.

    • Other duties as assigned.


    Required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include but are not limited to:

    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree

    • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience

    • Experience with Shopify sales platforms, to add inventory and generate daily sales reports

    • Proficiency in QuickBooks, to maintain accurate records in QuickBooks for all financial transactions

    • Strong negotiation skills, to negotiate pricing and payment terms with vendors

    • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

    • Accounting experience a plus

    Pay range:

    In the spirit of pay transparency we share the base salary range for this position for the 2023-2024 academic year. The full pay range, which encompasses all experience levels is $68,000 - $90,000 (for full-time position). Within this broad range, we pay each employee in accordance with what could be reasonably expected based on an individual's experience level. Base salary is exclusive of fringe benefits, retirement plan employer contributions or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Pay ranges at Menlo are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at Menlo School, your final base salary will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status and number of months of work per academic year. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the generous range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical for Menlo School in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
