Job Title:Staff Accountant
Job Class: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Controller

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Controller and Human Resource Coordinator (HR) with Accounts Payable/Receivable, payroll, as well as general accounting and business office support functions at EBI. The Staff Accountant interacts with faculty, staff, vendors, and parents on a weekly basis.
Ideal Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Business, Accounting, or related field)

Experience working in an independent school or non-profit organization is strongly preferred

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop (or similar accounting platform), Excel and G-Suite
-
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
-
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
-
Analytical, process improvement and problem-solving skills; resourceful with the ability to research and resolve inquiries

Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize work
-
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
-
Flexible, collaborative, and able to work effectively in a team-driven environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision

Technologically savvy
-
Discretion and sensitivity to confidential information
Specific responsibilities:
-
Serve as the point person for all accounts payable matters, including setting up new vendors and the year-end 1099 filing process
-
Route bills for coding and approval; enter invoices into QuickBooks and prepare weekly payment runs
-
Prepare monthly reports for credit card holders and manage the approval process
-
Review coding and enter all credit card transactions in QuickBooks
-
Serve as backup support for Purchasing
-
Utilize and maintain timekeeping information related to verifying payroll information and recording earnings/deductions., etc.

Support HR in processing the bi-monthly payroll
-
Prepare and make bank deposits
-
Track and reconcile accounts receivable to ensure all payments are accounted for and properly posted
-
Utilize FACTS tuition management system to support payment plan management
-
Generate weekly remittance and delinquency reports from FACTS; resolve outstanding billing issues
-
Prepare tuition receipts for FSA/ tax purposes, as needed for families
-
Support transactional data entry and the monthly close process
-
Calculate and record department allocations for Employee Benefit expenses

Run and distribute monthly departmental budget vs. actual reports
-
Prepare supporting documents for the annual Audit and 990 Tax Return
-
Gather data from various departments to assist with the completion of DASL/BIIS/Cal-ISBOA Annual Surveys

Participate in the production of various government (federal, state and local) filings and reporting
-
Identify continuous opportunities for improvement and standardization in accounts payable and financial processes to build efficiencies and eliminate or reduce manual processes

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Controller, HR and the DFO
EBI uses a salary scale that is based on education and years of experience and ranges from $31 to $38.46 per hour.
