    Director of Finance - Head Royce School

    Hybrid Role, Working 2 days per week on campus

    Reporting to the Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFOO), the Director of Finance works closely with the CFOO in overseeing all aspects of the School’s financial operations.  This role assists the CFOO in assessing the financial performance of the School, and identifying potential risks. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with broad knowledge of all accounting, financial and business principles. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and effective leader who is committed to the practice of sound financial stewardship. This role manages the AP/Payroll Manager, AR Manager and Senior Accountant.

    Job Responsibilities/Expectations

    §  Maintain constant awareness of the School’s financial position and proactively prevents problems

    §  Manage and oversee the School’s accounting system (Blackbaud)

    §  Set targets for and supervise accounting and finance personnel

    §  Oversee all audit and internal control operations

    §  Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis

    §  Conduct analysis for forecasting as needed

    §  Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines

    §  Serve on the Retirement Investment Committee

    Qualifications

    §  Proven experience as Director of Finance, Controller, or similar role

    §  In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices

    §  Knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting methodologies

    §  An analytical mind with the ability to strategize

    §  Excellent organizational and leadership skills

    §  Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities

    §  Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field

    §  CPA or other relevant qualification is preferred

    §  Minimum three years of experience in independent school or similar environment is highly preferred

    §  Work within a community that expects collegiality and open communication

    §  Able to maintain confidentiality

    Skills

    §  Comfortable working in and with diverse student and adult populations

    §  Proficient within the Mac and Google Suite environment, using databases

    §  Proficient with Blackbaud accounting system strongly preferred

    §  Self-motivated, ability to multi-task, excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures

    §  Prior experience as a manager/supervisor of others

    Other Requirements

    §  Must be fully vaccinated (and boosted) against Covid-19 and show proof of negative TB test within the last four years in addition to participation in background screening

    Salary Range and Benefits

    Salary range of $145,000 to $170,000, 403b match up to 7.5%, zero cost medical/dental/vision coverage, 50% tuition remission for enrolled children of employees.
