    Job Description and Desired Qualifications

    Redwood Day seeks an outstanding Director of After School and Summer Programs to lead our co and extracurricular programming to the next level. This is a full-time position reporting to the Head of School. The Director of After School and Summer Programs is responsible for all areas related to the operation of the after school program (“X-Care”), including, overseeing curriculum/program development, facilitating recruitment and retention, fostering professional development of X-Care staff, implementing strategic initiatives related to the after school experience, and ensuring overall student well-being in the program. In addition, the Director of After School and Summer Programs is responsible for encouraging student engagement, leadership, and expression of school values in all after-school offerings.

    The Director is also responsible for leading a six-week summer program for approximately 200-350 students from around Oakland and the East Bay. They are responsible for program and curriculum development, hiring and retention of summer faculty and staff, and all areas of the operations of the Redwood Day summer program.

    This is a full-time, exempt position, hours generally between 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. daily, beginning as early as June 2023 or as late as mid-August 2023. Summer hours are slightly different with programming generally offered between 8:30-5:00 p.m.

    Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

    -       Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)

    -       Demonstrated success as an After School Director or equivalent in a school or education related setting (minimum of three years of administrative experience)

    -       An understanding of the developmental needs of children aged 5-11

    -       A love of working with children

    -       Exceptional organizational and time management skills

    -       Ability to work collaboratively in a high functioning team setting

    -       High energy and creativity

    -       Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

    -       Flexibility and patience

    -       Demonstrated commitment to creating diverse, equitable and inclusive learning environments for all students

    Pay Scale:

    The anticipated salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the full-time position of Director of After School and Summer Programs is $70,000 to $97,500, depending on factors such as experience and education.
