Visual Arts Temporary Full-Time Position

The College Preparatory School, an independent high school in Oakland, California, seeks a temporary full-time Visual Arts teacher beginning in January 2025 and ending in June 2025. This position entails teaching four sections of visual arts. Qualifications and desired characteristics:
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in the Visual arts
- Three to five years experience teaching at the secondary or college level
- Passion for working with high school students
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Patience, flexibility, and a good sense of humor
- A strong interest in working in a multicultural community
The College Prep Arts Department offers a variety of courses in the Visual, Musical, Vocal, Dance, and Dramatic Arts. Students are required to take a minimum of two years of arts courses for graduation; the majority take more. Other than in Orchestra and Jazz Band, student enrollment in Arts classes is kept low in order to maximize student participation and engagement. The Arts Department actively cultivates and enjoys a culture of innovative collaboration and collegiality among its members and students.
Faculty at College Prep are compensated according to a step scale based on years of experience that ranges from $72,500/year for teachers with no prior relevant experience to $143,700/year for teachers with 44 years of prior experience. Temporary or Part-time teachers are compensated on the same scale, prorated for their percentage or term of employment.
