    Founded in 1889, Marlborough School is an independent girls college-preparatory school for grades 7 through 12 located in Los Angeles, California. Marlborough is the oldest independent girls’ school in the Southern California region.     OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT:

    The Marlborough Robotics Program seeks to empower young women and gender expansive youth and inspire them to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). This mission is primarily pursued through participation in the FIRST Technical Challenge, which requires students to design, build, and program a robot to compete with other teams in an annual game. Throughout this challenge, an emphasis is placed on the engineering design process, collaborative problem solving, and the safe utilization of a wide variety of tools and technology. The mission extends beyond the Marlborough teams through student-led outreach and extensive collaboration with the local engineering community. Marlborough is currently home to six FTC teams composed of students in grades 8-12.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

           Be available in-person on Marlborough campus 2-4 days per week from 12-5pm, and four to five weekend tournaments annually

           Supervise and maintain a safe, organized workshop environment

           Support teams in their application of the design process to each season’s robot challenge

           Provide feedback to teams on their robot designs and engineering portfolios

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

           Extensive experience in the FIRST Tech Challenge as a student or mentor

           Familiar with the REV Control system and common FTC commercial off the shelf parts

           Proficient in Java programming and/or Computer Aided Design using Onshape

           Experience with digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, or CNC machines

           Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills

    COMPENSATION

    Hourly compensation ranging from: $16.90/hr - $21.50/hr
