    About Francis Parker School:

    Francis Parker School is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California with 1315 students in grades JK-12. Founded in 1912, the school’s mission is to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world.” Francis Parker School has two campuses in close proximity. One in Mission Hills (Lower School JK-5), and a second in Linda Vista (Middle and Upper School 6-8 and 9-12, respectively).

    Job Description:

    Associate Teachers will work in the elementary classrooms as a support to the Lead Classroom Teacher.  This is a full-time, temporary (one-year assignment) for the 2023-2024 school year: Monday - Friday (7:45 am – 4:15 pm). Employees will have the opportunity to re-apply from year-to-year.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

    ·         Instructional responsibilities, including planning, prepping, and contributing to and teaching lessons one-on-one and in small group instruction 

    ·         Working closely with the classroom teacher and grade-level team to coordinate curriculum and instruction

    ·         Understand and implement all school safety and security practices

    ·         Supervising the playground in a manner consistent with school program

    ·         Communicating closely and effectively within the school community

    ·         In addition to their teaching responsibilities, Associate Teachers provide supervision for carline, lunch duty and recess

    ·         In addition to their teaching responsibilities, faculty members, including Associate Teachers, may participate in other components of the life of the school, including committees and duties

    ·         Participation in regularly scheduled professional learning and goal setting activities

    ·         Occasionally acting as the lead for assigned homerooms or other classes to support the effectiveness of the school program

    Qualifications:

    ·         Bachelor's degree; teaching credential is desirable

    ·         Prior elementary school experience is essential

    ·         Up to date with technology skills (preferably Google Suite)

    ·         Possess excellent writing skills

    ·         Must possess excellent organizational skills

    ·         Collaborate well with school staff

    ·         Be willing to collaborate and be flexible

    ·         Have an abiding interest in helping young people experience success in school

    ·         Be capable of and willing to embrace Parker’s unswerving commitment to being a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community that creates a culture of respect for all

    Salary and Benefits:

    Francis Parker School is committed to attracting and retaining the highest quality faculty and staff through a substantial compensation plan, including competitive salary, TIAA retirement benefits and full medical/dental coverage.

    This Full-Time Associate Teacher position is paid on an hourly basis, pay ranging from $22.50 - $25 per hour.
