    ESLA is seeking a faculty member for its Mathematics Department with an unshakable commitment to student success. Ideal candidates will be comfortable teaching students in grades six through twelve across a variety of subjects. ESLA’s mathematics curriculum includes foundational classes in the Middle School, an Integrated Mathematics track that bridges Middle and Upper School, and a series of college-preparatory classes in Precalculus/Trigonometry, Statistics, and Calculus.     About the Department:

    ESLA’s Mathematics Department aims broadly to develop students’ critical thinking, problem solving, and interpretive sophistication. Upon graduating from ESLA, students will possess:

    • The ability to apply mathematical concepts and strategies to real-world scenarios

    • Facility in communicating mathematical processes and methods to others

    • The ability to work collaboratively and carry out complex projects 

    • The ability to make informed judgments based on mathematical evidence and analysis

    Responsibilities:

    • Teach 5 sections of Mathematics classes, likely across more than one grade

    • Prepare course materials, both working from existing curricula and through the development of new content—prioritizing student engagement and comprehension

    • Utilize a variety of assessments that promote both rigor and student success

    • Participate in an after-school program (3:30–5:30 p.m.) one day a week, e.g. sports, clubs, performing arts, or academic support

    • Willingness to serve as an advisor to a small group of students

    • Attend regular community gatherings, including, but not limited to, meetings, chapel, lunch, field trips, and major feast days

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics or a related field of study

    • Experience designing and implementing a challenging, engaging curriculum

    • Strong executive, organizational, and classroom-management skills

    • The ability to work collaboratively within the department and seek out opportunities to collaborate with others

    • Candidates will preferably have a master’s degree in a relevant field of study, 3+ years of teaching experience, or a CA teaching credential
