    Immediate Opening for Assistant Head of School

    Casa di Mir is a Bay Area Montessori School with a mission of providing an authentic Montessori education to 150 students pre-k through 8th grade while imbuing in our students leadership skills, a strong sense of self and an ethos of non-violent communication. We provide an excellent education in a nurturing environment founded on a strong sense of community. Our students go on to thrive in the best high schools of the area embracing life with the creed they have experienced at our school: Explore, Learn and Lead. A recent survey of current families found 93% are very pleased with their experience.

    We are currently seeking to hire an Assistant Head of School to assist the Head in overseeing the daily operations of the school.  We are looking for candidates with experience in education administration, with a passion for Montessori fundamentals and with a keen sense of how to continue to build the caring, passionate and intellectual community we are known for at Casa di Mir. 

    Summary:

    The Assistant Head of School is hired by and will report to the current Head of School. S/he administers and provides day-to-day administrative leadership for the school working with the admissions director, business manager, development director, curriculum director, and assistant administrators.

    Duties:

    • Direct and supervise the various functions and activities of the School, including IT technical services supervision, human resources support services, campus facilities use, maintenance and improvement
    • Provide leadership, supervision, training and evaluation of non-academic personnel including maintenance and personnel in business functions.
    • Create systems and clarity of task responsibilities for the daily flow of children and activities within the building and in the outside activity space.  Oversee that these tasks are done.
    • Supervise the maintenance, care and improvement of the School’s buildings and grounds through sound management practices. Anticipate and helps plan for future facilities development, based on projected educational program plans and projected needs for dedicated spaces and facilities.              
    • Guide the Admissions Director in establishing admissions standards and procedures, enrollment objectives.
    • Research demographics and changes in enrollment.                                                                 
    • Participate with Head of School in hiring, staff reviews, staff growth, and dismissals of teaching staff.
    • Create and nurture an appropriate and strong administrative management team that operates following the principles outlined in the school's mission.         
    • Remain current on Human Relations Policies and Labor Laws.
    • Participate in forming and implementing high performance standards.                       
    • Develop relationships with current students and their families and maintains connections with alumni and their families.               
    • Be an enthusiastic spokesperson for the school and maintain connection with the greater Montessori/Educational community. 
    • Oversee the Development and Marketing Director       
    • Engage in the school's advancement programs

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience in administrative and financial management, or combination of education and relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required):
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Supervisory skills including conflict resolution.
    • Financial management knowledge
    • Attention to detail and the accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and usefulness of financial information.
    • Effective interpersonal skills.
    • Solid analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Strong expertise in business and management computer applications and databases
