About Parker:
Parker is a coeducational
independent day school in San Diego, California with 1,330 students in Junior
Kindergarten through Grade 12. Founded in 1912, the school’s mission is “to

Hills (Lower School, Junior Kindergarten - Grade 5), and a second in Linda

Description:
Francis Parker School seeks
an enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate teacher to serve as a resource
teacher specializing in math and science support for students in grades 6-8.
Essential
Duties/Responsibilities:
The Math and Science
Resource Teacher provides targeted instructional support to students in grades
6–8. This role focuses on intervention, small group instruction, and
collaboration with classroom teachers to help students meet grade-level
academic standards. The support teacher works to close achievement gaps,
reinforce core concepts, and build student confidence in STEM subjects.
Student Instruction & Support:
- Provide small-group or
one-on-one instruction to students performing below expectations in math
and/or science.
- Deliver
targeted interventions aligned with the student’s learning profile,
classroom instruction, state, national, and content area standards.
- Use
diagnostic and formative assessments to identify learning needs and
monitor progress.
Collaboration with Staff:
- Work closely with math and
science classroom teachers to coordinate instructional strategies and
student support plans.
- Collaborate
with counselors, special education staff, and intervention teams to
address academic challenges and recommend next steps.
- Participate
in student support team (SST) and response to intervention (RTI/MTSS)
meetings as needed.
Curriculum & Instructional Resources:
- Adapt instructional materials
and strategies to meet diverse student learning styles and needs.
- Integrate
hands-on, inquiry-based, and technology-enhanced learning approaches when
appropriate.
- Support the
use of supplemental programs and tools to reinforce math and science
content.
Data Collection & Progress Monitoring:
- Track student performance through
regular assessments and maintain accurate records of student growth.
- Use
data to inform instruction and adjust intervention strategies.
- ·
Communicate student
progress with student support team, teachers, advisors, and families.
Qualifications:
- A
degree and preferably a teaching certificate in Mathematics, Science, or
related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid
state teaching certification in secondary math, science, or a related
subject area is preferred.
- Minimum
of 3 years of teaching experience, with a focus on math or science.
- Knowledge
of intervention strategies, differentiated instruction, and data-driven
teaching.
- Certification
as learning specialist or intervention specialist is preferred.
- A
strong and sincere commitment to professional development both in pedagogy
and content area.
- Multicultural
curriculum development and culturally responsive teachingexperience
is preferred.
- Strong
interpersonal and cultural competency skills when working with students,
parents, faculty, and School leadership.
- High
standards and high expectations for students.
- Commitment
to being a positive and contributing member of the professional community.
- A
love of children, a passionate commitment to secondary education, and a
desire to work with all types of learners.
- Extraordinary
communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency
in the use of technology.
- A

Salary and Benefits:
Parker is
committed to attracting and retaining the highest quality faculty and staff
through a substantial compensation plan, including competitive salary, TIAA
retirement benefits and full medical/dental coverage. Individual salary is
negotiable depending on years of experience and educational background.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 per year
The actual salary will be determined
by the candidate’s educational degree and their years of full-time teaching
experience. The starting salary listed reflects this position’s minimum
experience and educational requirements; the ending salary listed represents
the top of the salary structure for this position. Most candidates can expect
to enter in the lower to middle section of this salary range, depending on
their specific experience and education.
