    Menlo School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school for students in grades six through twelve.     Our ideal Dance Educator candidate will:

    • Create a supportive, engaging and inspiring classroom culture for all students;
    • Design high-quality dance performance opportunities for students of varying skill levels;
    • Engage students with a repertoire elevant to their lives and interests;
    • Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues;
    • Contribute to a positive climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards;
    • Desire a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring;
    • Communicate regularly with families regarding their child's academic and social-emotional growth;
    • Collaborate and communicate effectively and respectfully with all colleagues;
    • Work to build a world-class dance program and promote the vital role of the arts in education.
    Responsibilities:
    • Teach five sections of Upper School dance;
    • Choreograph two mainstage musicals per year in conjunction with the Drama Department;
    • In collaboration with the Middle School, choreograph and stage a dance concert showcasing all students of movement and dance;
    • Serve as an advocate to a group of about 10 upper school students;
    • Facilitate one grade level strand of M-Term, an immersive, experiential program of mini-courses at the end of the spring semester.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant teaching area 
    • Possess a strong background in the performing arts, including teaching experience in ballet, jazz, modern, and hip hop. 
    • Prior professional training within a rigorous educational or professional dance program or professional performance credits;
    • High quality written and verbal communication skills;
    • Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards in the Performing Arts is a plus.
