    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Woodland School seeks an inspiring and nurturing Kindergarten teacher who develops students’ inquiring minds

    and compassionate hearts. Candidates should be passionate about teaching and have a love for children.

    Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field is required. Candidates

    with Master’s degree and teaching certificate, as well as 2-3 years elementary teaching experience, preferred.


    SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Demonstrate a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and current research in the

    field of early childhood education.

    • Actively engage in professional growth and development by participating in ongoing coaching and

    mentoring cycles, book studies, and other relevant professional development opportunities.

    • Leverage summative assessment, formative assessment, and progress monitoring data to intentionally differentiate instruction for young learners.
    • Administer a variety of reliable and valid assessment measures to identify student strengths and opportunities for growth.
    • Foster a positive and supportive emotional learning environment by utilizing positive guidance practices.
    • Curate a developmentally appropriate physical environment, purposefully structured to meet the needs of kindergarten students.
    • Regularly create robust objective driven lesson plans aligned with age appropriate learning outcomes.
    • Communicate student learning through ongoing documentation of student work.
    • Implement Fundations, Bridges in Mathematics, and Reader’s and Writers Workshop, in addition to thoughtfully prepared literacy and math learning stations.
    • Routinely facilitate differentiated guided reading lessons and other small group learning activities.
    • Frequently offer project-based units of study to provide hands on contextualized learning experiences for children.
    • Consistently foster positive relationships with families through ongoing dialogue, professional correspondence, and clear communication.
    • Maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
    • Periodically supervise student lunch and/or recess.
    • Demonstrate professional behavior, including discretion, good judgment, and integrity.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

    Located just west of Stanford University, Woodland is an independent day school that offers a joyful approach to learning in a diverse, respectful, and inclusive environment for approximately 300 students in early childhood through eighth-grade. We have two sections of each grade level K- 8 with class sizes that average from 14-18 per class.
