Job Description
This individual reports to the Middle School Division Director and is responsible for providing administrative support to this position as well as assisting the Director in supporting middle school faculty and students. These support functions include, but are not limited to: database system maintenance (Blackbaud My School App), supply purchasing, drafting/sending communications, filing, reception duties, scheduling substitute teachers, responding to faculty and family messages and correspondence, providing information and responding to inquiries, and disseminating information internally. This position also helps coordinate middle school activities and events including, but not limited to, school year calendar/schedule, special schedules, back to school night, science fair, art show, ISEE prep and on-site test, field trips, outdoor education trips, Step-Up, and 8th grade graduation. Additional responsibilities include supervisory duties, serving as an activities facilitator (as needed), serving as a substitute teacher for uncovered teacher absences, and participation in various student and community activities.
Essential Requirements
The ideal candidate has:
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (minimum two years’ clerical or administrative support experience, preferable in a school setting)
● Strong written and oral communication skills
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others
● Familiarity with Google Suite and Zoom
● Strong project management and coordination experience
● Effective organizational structures and methods with a strong attention to detail
● High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information
● Ability and willingness to work some early mornings, evenings, and weekend days
Desired Qualifications
● Experience working with middle school students and parents
● Experience working in a school setting and partnering with community members
● Experience with student information systems such as Blackbaud My School App
This is a full-time, non-exempt position, beginning in July 2023.
Schedule and Hours
Daily hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and Wednesday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Pay Scale
The anticipated hourly rate the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the position of Assistant to the Middle School Director for the 2023-24 school year is $31 to $38/hour.
