    Position Overview:

    The Assistant Director, Development Strategy & Analytics is charged with designing and executing a strategic marketing program to garner robust donor support for the Crossroads Fund. This includes the execution and analysis of a solicitation and communication plan for all mass marketing channels (direct mail, emails, social media, web-giving, and crowdfunding) as well as establishing best practices to maximize donor acquisition/renewal and dollars raised.

    The Assistant Director will also work in close partnership with the Data Services team to further develop our ability to strategically use data to drive the work of the Development team. They will collaborate closely with colleagues from across Advancement, as well as volunteer leadership, to provide a sophisticated donor experience while embracing Crossroads’ mission and core values in all facets of their work.

    Essential Job Functions:


    a) In partnership with Director of Development, develops a detailed, month-by-month operational plan for the annual giving program (goals, strategies and tactics) for inclusion in the overall Advancement operations plan

    b) Establishes complex calendar of annual fund direct marketing solicitations by targeted constituency and fundraising approach (leadership and participation) using various channels including mail, email and more

    c) Identify unique donor segments where innovative marketing and stewardship can have a significant impact such as with first-time donors, lapsed donors, and affinity groups and develop strategies to align with donor behaviors (timing, designation, gift vehicle etc…)

    d) Research/benchmark creative ideas in segmentation and solicitation such as text-to-give, social media ads and giving day efforts. Champion the ongoing identification and adaptation of industry best-practices for independent school annual giving

    e) In coordination with colleagues, develop strategic communication and solicitation plans around development and school events such as the HOS Dinners, State of the School and Spring Event

    f) Coordinate with communication colleagues to capitalize on Roadmap opportunities to share progress to goals and promote CYE and EOFY giving seasons


    a) Develop a benchmarking system to measure progress to date including overall participation, donor acquisition, retention, and analysis of donors giving at, above or below ask amounts

    b) Continuous review of appeals to date (performance analysis based on appeal type, authorship and send timing and unsubscribes to inform future strategies)

    c) Coordination with database manager to ensure reports and dashboards are set up to continually monitor progress to goals and inform day-to-day activity and archive month over month log of results in order to develop an understanding of institutional trends for participation averages, grade level performance YOY and dollars raised.

    d) Partner on the ongoing maintenance of data and materials for the creation and dissemination of the Annual Report


    a) Collaborate with colleagues to help to develop content and data for annual fund documents, appeals, grant proposals/reports and other communications

    b) Coordinates with Database Manager and others to facilitate pledge fulfillment

    c) Helps to review gift coversheets prior to gift entry, reviews content and helps to facilitate acknowledgement letters


    a) Participate in regular team meetings, 1:1s, Bi-Weekly Advancement Team Meeting and Bi-Weekly Development Team Meetings

    b) Participate in conversations with development colleagues to evaluate and refine processes, policies and procedures with a goal of streamlining resources and maximizing team bandwidth

    c) Appetite and aptitude to develop technology skills as related to new development tools (Give Campus, Windfall, Double the Donation etc…)

    d) Collaborate with colleagues in Alumni and Parent Relations to support seasonal projects that align with development objectives such as reunions, spring event, parent events and volunteer thank you events etc…

    Required Qualifications: (Skills, experience, education/certification, etc.)

    · Strong candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of direct marketing or membership experience, preferably in a non-profit setting

    · Experience and interest in data reporting and analytics strongly preferred

    · Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database or similar strongly preferred

    · Ability to meet deadlines within the context of a complex office/school calendar

    · High degree of organization and effectiveness at multi-tasking

    · Fluency with Microsoft Office, (particularly Excel), Outlook & Google suite

    · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    · Able to work independently and effectively with other team members

    · Ability to work occasional night and weekend hours in support of school events

    · Passionate about actively supporting the School’s mission
