    The College Preparatory School, an independent coeducational secondary school in Oakland, California, seeks a Development Manager. This exempt position is currently open (on-site). Candidates should have a strong interest in working in a multicultural community and be eager to embrace spirited intellectual challenges in a rewarding academic environment.     POSITION SUMMARY

    Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Development Manager is a key member of the Advancement team. They will have primary responsibility for managing The Campaign for College Prep, which successfully completed funding The Hill Project, significant new construction to be completed in fall 2021. The second phase of the Campaign is focused on increasing the School's endowment for faculty, students, and programs. This position is also responsible for a variety of Advancement events, in both lead and support roles.

    Please note that due to current and potential future restrictions due to COVID-19, the events management responsibilities will be shaped as needed.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Campaign for College Prep

    • Manage the prospect pool
    • Research prospects and prepare profiles
    • Support Campaign volunteers and attend Steering Committee meetings
    • Support weekly Campaign update meetings with Head of School and Director of Advancement
    • Manage gifts & pledges; reconcile with the Business Office
    • Manage donor recognition
    • Lead Campaign events

    Advancement Office Events

    Lead

    • Fall Leadership Event
    • Grandfriends Day
    • New Family Welcome Events

    Support

    • Parents' Association Annual Benefit
    • Advisory Council Retreat
    • Alumni Reunion
    • Spring Leadership Event
    • Senior Dessert Party
    • Other Advancement Events

    GENERAL

    • Work evenings and weekends as required
    • Assist with Advancement Office activities, events, and initiatives as required

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • 3+ years in advancement or equivalent position Campaign and Events Manager
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills
    • Strong organizational and self-management skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
    • Cultural competency and commitment to equity and inclusion
    • A champion of independent school education strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google Suite
    • Experience with constituent relationship management (CRM) systems such as Raiser's Edge, or equivalent client management system
    • Highest ethical standards
