    The mission of the Idyllwild Arts Foundation is changing lives through the transformative power of art.

    The Idyllwild Arts Academy provides pre-professional training in the arts and a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum to a diverse student body of gifted young artists from all over the world.

    The Idyllwild Arts Summer Program provides arts instruction and experiences of the highest caliber to a diverse student population of all ages and abilities.

    Idyllwild is a small town located at over 5,000 feet on the western slopes of California's San Jacinto Mountains. Even though it seems far from the hustle and bustle of city life, the town and campus frequently hosts music festivals, prominent speakers and artists, and community events. Also, it is only two hours by car to Los Angeles and San Diego.


    The Student Services Coordinator manages the school's attendance system. He/she will, on a daily basis, monitor attendance reports. Will follow up with students who are red flagged with unexcused absences. Communicate directly with teachers to help consistently enforce expectations regarding each teacher's responsibility to complete in class attendance consistently. Communicate directly with students and families about unexcused absences and remind them of our policies and consequences for not meeting attendance expectations. Work closely with the Assistant Dean of Students regarding these all issues.


    • Tracking and managing everything related to student attendance, which includes:
      • Training faculty on our attendance program
      • Communicating with faculty, student services staff, students, and parents on a daily basis to determine how to classify absences
      • Tracking students who are absent on a regular basis and notifying all parties concerned at prescribed intervals
      • Sending a daily attendance report or updating our attendance program on a daily basis
      • Monitoring away permission sheet, off-campus excursions, and college audition trips
    • Assisting the Assistant Dean of Students with tracking away permissions
    • Working with staff and student leaders to plan and execute activities, events, and excursions. Including submitting work orders, purchasing supplies, reserving tickets, transportation, and following up with the student billing process
    • Supporting Student leadership on campus, this might include but is not limited to the Prefects and Student Council
    • Supporting Clubs and club activities, this will include coordinating with both Faculty/Staff and student club leaders and advisors
    • Oversight and coordination of vacation homestays
    • Coordinating communication with dorm heads regarding the 'information station' located on the white boards in each dorm
    • Managing and tracking detention, work crew, campus, and dorm consequences
    • Oversight of breakfast check-in, which includes sweeping the dorms after check-in is finished
    • Oversight of weekend check-in
    • Oversight of dining hall meal duties, ensuring students are eating at scheduled times, washing hands, and practicing the most current health and safety guidelines
    • Helping the Dean of Students and Assistant Dean of Students on an as-needed basis. This includes but is not limited to:
      • Assisting with the departure of students who are leaving the academy for any reason – expulsions, withdrawals, medical leaves, etc.
      • Assisting with student services investigations, discipline, student issues or conflicts, room searches, etc.
      • Assisting with disaster preparation, training, and drills
      • Attending student services meetings and faculty meetings
    • Read dorm logs and check email on a daily basis
    • Reply to emails in a timely manner, generally within 24 hours. Communicate with parents, students, faculty, and staff over breaks on an as-needed basis
    • Assist with student arrival and departure days
    • Perform any student services duties that might be required on an as needed basis



    • A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.
    • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in secretarial and administrative support.


    Ability and desire to work within the Idyllwild community, Riverside County, or commute a reasonable distance, that does not impede on-time arrival during winter months.

    Obtain and maintain a valid California Driver License, pass a criminal history background check as required by California Education Code Section 44237, and pass a TB test.



    While Performing The Duties Of This Position An Incumbent May Be Required To:

    ·   Regularly remain sedentary for long periods of time in meetings and while processing information and paper work both manually and on a computer.

    ·   Specific vision abilities include close, distance and color vision perception and the ability to adjust eye focus. Reaching with the hands and arms and use of hands to finger, type, and manipulate a computer keyboard and mouse is required.

    ·   Additionally, the incumbent must be able to converse in clear English both written and orally, over a telephone and in person, and be able to make public presentations.

    ·   Work hours vary and may include days, nights, and weekends.
