Facilities Workshop

Join your colleagues for a 2 1/2 hour virtual workshop completely dedicated to the ins and outs of Facilities at independent schools in California. This interactive program is designed for both new and seasoned Facilities professionals, as well as business officers who also wear the Facilities hat. The program will include opportunities for networking and sessions on a variety of Facilities topics encompassing both transactional and strategic Facilities functions.

10:00am - 10:30am
The Ins and Outs of Poured in Place Rubber Surfacing
Join Frank Horwath, TotTurf NCA Sales Representative, for a presentation on best practices for care and maintenance of your playground surfaces. Surfaces discussed will include Pour in Place Surfacing, Synthetic Turf, Rubber Tiles and Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF). Periodic Preventive Maintenance Do’s and Don'ts, Spot Cleaning and Minor Repairs will be covered. In addition Frank will share tips and tricks for assessing “what to do when” different conditions appear on your playgrounds.

Transportation Demand Management Plans for Independent Schools
Jurisdictions are increasingly requiring transportation demand management plans (TDMPs) to manage traffic volumes associated with independent schools, particularly new schools as well as existing schools planning to increase enrollment or add new facilities. TDMPs provide tools to limit traffic increases and to monitor traffic volumes and modes used to travel to and from school. This session will introduce participants to the purpose of TDMPs and various strategies used to develop successful plans. Proper maintenance of a school's athletic facilities is critical to its function and performance. Professionals from H.Y. Vice President Susan Heller and Assistant Manager Roger Robbins will share best practices for keeping your wood floors looking their best, lowering your repair costs, and extending the life of your floors. Security Assessments
 
This session will focus primarily on Risk Assessments and the critical role they play in identifying security gaps.The main areas of a Risk Assessment will be covered including Emergency Operation Plans,Training and Drills, Prevention Measures, Technology/Infrastructure and Recovery Plans. The presentation will conclude with discussion regarding the completed assessment and its benefits including a clear roadmap to follow with priorities identified for budgetary planning. Presented by Marianne Derbyshire Alvarez, Safety and Security Consultant
