Once a year we all come together at our Annual Meeting to share our ideas, hear about the progress of Cal-ISBOA, celebrate our successes, learn from our challenges, meet up with old friends and make new connections. To simplify your planning and ensure that the Annual Meeting is accessible to all, the location of the Annual Meeting alternates between northern and southern California.

Human Resources Workshop - NEW THIS YEAR
Join your colleagues for a half-day pre-conference workshop completely dedicated to the ins and outs of HR at independent schools in California. This interactive program is designed for both new and seasoned Human Resources professionals as well as business officers who also wear the HR hat. The program will include opportunities for networking as well as sessions on a variety of HR topics encompassing both transactional and strategic HR functions. Thank you to AJ Gallagher for their underwriting support!

Statistical Survey Workshop Dive Deeper into Data Analysis
During this highly interactive workshop, teams of Business Officers will a develop a multi stage sustainability enhancement plan for an independent school whose performance has deteriorated over the past several years due to a combination of competitive pressures, deteriorating competitiveness and a challenging economy. Under the guidance of Dr. Harry Bloom, Senior Vice President of Client Solutions of Measuring Success, participants will use the CalISBOA benchmarking database to understand the drivers of the school’s sustainability challenges. Then, they will assess a number of corrective actions to enhance the school’s situation relating to revenue, shifts in spending/investment, and better use of assets. Finally, they will have an opportunity to model the impact of their proposed changes. A panel of judges, working under Dr. Bloom’s guidance will assess the quality of the teams’ work and award a prize to the solution judged to be best. The results of the exercise will be announced at the Annual Conference on Monday. Open only to member schools who completed the 2017 Cal-ISBOA Survey.
