8:45 11:15 “Beyond Words: Building Your Personal Credibility Through Nonverbal Communication”

Dr. Janet Larsen Palmer and Dr. Neal Larsen Palmer, principals of Communication Excellence Institute and nationally known experts on nonverbal communication, will share practical techniques you can use to become more successful with your Head, Board members, faculty and staff! Over 90% of your communication is nonverbal (positive or negative). What messages are YOU sending?

 

The morning session will be devoted to a helping you understand and hone your nonverbal skills. You will take away practical techniques you can use to stand, gesture, and reach out to others nonverbally for greater impact and persuasiveness. You’ll be excited to try out everything you learn in this highly interactive presentation.

1:00 – 2:30 KEYNOTE SPEAKER – Dr. Robert Sapolsky

“Why Business Managers Get Ulcers and Zebras Don’t”

Dr. Sapolsky is science and nature writer, biologist and neuroscientist, and Stress Expert. The stress response: in the beginning it saved our lives, making us run from predators and enabling us to take down prey. Today, Business Managers are turning on the same lifesaving physical reaction to cope with enrollment declines, bond implosions, difficult bosses and even traffic undefined we can't seem to turn it off. So, we're constantly marinating in corrosive hormones triggered by the stress response.

 

Now, scientists are showing just how measurable undefined and dangerous undefined prolonged exposure to stress can be. Stanford University neurobiologist, top teaching honors recipient, MacArthur "genius" grant recipient, renowned author and parent of 2 students at an ISBOA member school, Robert Sapolsky will reveal new answers to why and how chronic stress is threatening our lives.
